vackerman's Journal, 18 April 2011

So I'm continuing to wrestle with myself, trying to get back into that eating carefully and exercising like crazy groove I was in last fall. Checked out my bodybugg log and I'm doing pretty good in the exercise department, burning no less than 2700 calories a day. Now if I could just keep the calories within reason I'd been seeing some progress again. I just can't seem to find that switched so seemingly easily got switched last summer.

I think part of it right now is stress management (something has to give). Life is crazy right now as hubby is still working nights. Throws my whole schedule haywire as well as adding many responsibilities to my plate. Which at the moment results in us eating out 1-2 meals everyday just to keep the household moving. Along with being very expensive, as you all know it just makes it harder to eat right and control the calories.

So I think for now I have to do what I can to keep the food in check and keep moving. Praise be to God I'm and pretty much maintaining...or shall I say see-sawing gain 3-5 lbs, lose 3-5 lbs, gain, lose, etc. etc. but the net result is that I'm staying in that window. For now I need to just accept that. Hubby only has a couple more weeks on nights and then hopefully things will return somewhat to normal....

Diet Calendar Entry for 18 April 2011:
3116 kcal Activities & Exercise: Walking (moderate) - 3/mph - 30 minutes, Resting - 15 hours and 30 minutes, Sleeping - 8 hours. more...

I hate it for you that you are seesawing. I know how frustrating that can get when you are exercising like you are. But, at least it isn't going up, up, up. It is SO tough when you have to eat out more than once a week. Subway, makes it the easiest to do, but after so many weeks, it's time to change. The kids and I went out this afternoon, looking for Easter clothes. We ate lunch before we left, but it always takes half a day to go anywhere, so we stopped at a QuickTrip (gas station/convenience store). I already made up my mind that I was going to get hot and spicy peanuts (Planters Heat peanuts) and some water. The kids got chips and a slushy. I was impressed that they actually had some healthier options, offering fruit, sandwiches with calories on it. Veggie and fruit cups. Since I knew my calories were kind of low after breakfast and lunch, I decided to stick with the peanuts and bump up my calories and I grabbed a coconut water, that was fairly low in calories and sugar (35 and 6 respectively). I wish more fast food joints would/could jump on the healthy bandwagon. I mean, nothing is as good as making it, measuring it out for ourselves, but still, there is definitely not a lot of choices for busy families that eat out a lot. Anyways, here I go rambling again, late at night, when I should be in bed. lol

Sorry to hear about the stress hon. I'm trying to get back on schedule too, not easy when things are coming at you from all sides! Our best has to be good enough. We can do it!
