SkellyShelly's Journal, 16 October 2014

Today is a "hungry" day.

For whatever reason my stomach is growling and unsatisfied with what I've given it so far. I've been so good... lost 5 pounds my first week and maintaining my loss... not deviated one time for something not worthy (sounds like an episode of Seinfeld, lol)... but the hunger is still there.

So, today and just today I will feed that hunger. However - the only choices will be healthy choices. That's the trade off... and there's no discussion about it.

The gnawing monster in my stomach will be satiated but by my rules, not his. One day, Mr. Monster, and that's all you get.

Five trips up and down the stairs... with heels on...

You are doing the right thing. If I continue to deny myself I will eventually eat it and go overboard. I allow myself to have small amounts of certain foods so I can feel satisfied. I adjust the rest of my day of eating to control my daily totals. I love ice cream and just cannot totally giving it up. So once in a while I have just the 1/2 cup serving size and boy do I enjoy it! Do what works for you! :)

Heels! Stairs! Not that I have a fetish, but wore heels as part of a Halloween costume some years ago and was harder to walk in than any workout I can conjure. I applaud you. On a serious note - I typically go for matcha green tea, obviously without sugar or anything, to curb my hunger. Works like a champ. With fall settling in, warm tea is relaxing and comforting.

Five trips up and down the stairs has got to equal 10 trips with sneakers on! I dressed up as a women for a gag once and wore heels, I don't know how you ladies do it. As for the hunger, sounds like you're handling it well. When I'm fasting I tell myself (and my stomach) "hang in there -just a little longer". Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Stairs and heels: I try to make at least five (20, if possible) quick trips up and down the stairs every day here at work (I joke that it's my free health plan from my employer). Since I wear heels every day there are times when they are 'strapped' on and I'm not going to take them off just to run the stairs. Then there are days when my shoes are loose or floppy (backless types of heels, not flip flops) and then I'll kick them off to the side and run the stairs. It is what it is! Interesting observation on food consumption today: in an effort to stay near 20% carbs, 65% fat and 15% proteins I have managed to do just that even though my total caloric intake is higher today than other days. Maybe I'll get home and take a 10 mile bike ride to counteract those calories. I might've been hungry, but I stayed true to plan. Yay me!
