I find this very interesting. Today I caught a glimpse of my starting point of using this site to track diet, exercise and food. It was April 2010 where I started. And while my highest weight was 225, my lowest was 193, and now I hover around 200, I not only look back on how the numbers have gone up and down, but how much I have actually achieved.
In 4 years, I have accumulated extensive, albeit un-certified, knowledge about dieting, exercise training methods, kinesiology, mindfulness and spirituality, and most importantly how and to what extent all of those apply to me. I know I've learned more than that, but those are what is at the forefront of my mind. In 4 years, outside of these things, I've been very hellish. Overworking, obsessing, over-controlling, and generally being extreme. All this has seemingly given me a fantastic sense of self. While attempting to control the world around me, I've learned that such a thing is impossible, but controlling myself is another matter altogether. That, itself, is something I would call a positive outcome
This site has been a great guide. Being a software developer myself I have seen it grow with a very forward path. If there are any other devs reading this, props to you on making a good site!
