Good Evening, FS Warriors! Set the alarm for 6:00 and got up to run. Looked out the window and saw that it was still dark and very very foggy. I was afraid that my flashlight would just make some driver think he was on the wrong side of the road, and run into someone else or a tree or something. So, I waited until after sunrise to run. As soon as the sun came out, the fog burned off and it was just hot and muggy again. Oh whoopie, more humidity! I ran my 5 mile long run, which I guess isn't such a long run, but I'm just embarking on this training for the half. Next week's long run is 6 miles, and it just goes up pretty quick from there. Anyway, the idea is to run the long runs slow, and do some shorter speedwork during the week. I'll see how that works out.
The diet was kind of a bust today, again. I did well at breakfast, just a couple eggs and V8 juice and coffee. After church, we all went to Boss Hogg's buffet, and I started off with a salad, figuring I wouldn't indulge much after that if I feasted on a salad first. Then I went back for a slice of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy. and corn, which wouldn't have been all that bad for a day where I'd run 5 miles. However, they had some catfish fillets on the line, and then there was the little strawberry shortcake mini cakes, and we hadn't even made it to the granddaugter's birthday party, where it would just not be right for Grandpa to not have some cake and ice cream. Oh, Brother! Well, tomorrow is another day. Hoperfully, a more disciplined one. I'm not going to say I failed, to fail you have to attempt something, and fail at achieving it. I think I decided from the start that Labor Day holiday was not the time to get serious about a diet again.
So, I can't wait for what tomorrow brings. No run, but I'll work out on the body works machine. Got lots to do, just got to stay out of the kitchen. Well, I hope you all have a great holiday, and if you don't celebrate the holiday, have a great day anyway! Toodles!
