A WOW! for today (Adam's Words of Wisdom)

Believing in dreams.

This afternoon, I will be facing over 25 young men and women who are coming to audition for leading roles in my next film. Some are local and some are even flying in. Over the last few days, they have been communicating with me about the auditions and what is expected.

With each one, I can hear the excitement and nervousness at the event coming up. On my last communication to each, I ended the email with:
"Believe it or not, I want you to walk in and get the part more than you do!! I want to get the film cast and start working on all the other million things to be done. I want to feel good about who we have hired and feel confident that we have made the right choice."

To my surprise one young man wrote back:
"I have to say that I disagree with one part of your last email though... There is no way you want me to get this part more than I want it. I am a very serious, hard working actor and I have been making films my whole life. I have yet to star in a feature and I couldn't imagine one more fun to be my first."

It reminded me once again of how important this is for each of them. They will be holding out their hopes and dreams and hearts in their hands for me to decide and choose from. That is not an easy thing for them to do and that is not an easy thing for me to decide and judge.

I think back to the many auditions I went to and never heard back.
The contests entered.
The speech competitions.
The job applications.
Asking someone out on a date.
Buying a lottery ticket.
Asking for a raise.

So many dreams. Some came true, but so many did not.

But just like all of the young people I will be seeing today, you still have to believe. You have got to keep putting yourself out there - EVERY DAY!

It's hard. Sometimes the biggest challenge may be just getting out of bed and facing a tough day.

But how are your dreams ever going to come true if you don't believe in them - and more importantly - in yourself?
