2ManyCurves's Journal, 29 May 2014

I didn't consult with my previous journal and sort of screwed up my exercise plan. Attempted a 5K this morning instead of waiting until after work. Doubled over with cramps at about 2.25 miles. I get extreme cramps every time I am close to ovulation. (Sorry to my male FS buddies!) So apparently I jolted an egg right out of my ovaries while running today. I'm going to estimate that adds an extra 50 calories to my burn. If anyone has any suggestions on something I can do or take to lessen cramps which occur essentially twice a month that doesn't include NSAIDs, I am all ears!

Anyway...I was thinking (inaccurately) that I was to bicycle and do weights this evening. That wasn't the plan per Monday's journal, but I think that is what I will do along with adding weight training this evening. I'm going to try to make weights part of my day every Tuesday and Thursday.

I find that my Fitbit really makes me push harder with exercise, especially since I am trying to create a 1000 per day caloric deficit. I don't know that I am losing weight.... For the month, FatSecret is only showing that I should have about a three pound loss. Remember in the beginning of your weight loss journey when you could drop three pounds in a week or a matter of days? Ah, yes....that wasn't all fat you were losing but it felt good to see that number go down. Well, 75-80 pounds into it you have to fight for each pound you wish to wash away. The good news is you probably aren't losing as much water and muscle. I'm fairly certain I have minimal muscle loss as my tape measurement shows bigger thighs and calf measurements. Trust Fall challenge is over tomorrow so I suppose I will see where I am then. It is more of a curiosity now though than an obsession over what number the scale will show. In fact, the scale may be a little high tomorrow since I am lifting weights tonight. Whatev. I'm cool with it regardless of the number. That there is probably my biggest victory.

Have a great day FS buddies!

I truly hope that you doubled over with cramps, rather than craps. I can certainly relate to the fight to lose the pounds. I remember dropping 4+ a week. Ah, the good ole days! Not really lol. I'd rather be here fighting for every pound then there with so many left to lose. I too am very curious to see what I get tomorrow. It seems plans are made to be screwed up, so kudos to you for rolling with the punches and rearranging accordingly. I have no idea how to lessen your cramping issue... but sometimes I get insane cramps while running too. Maybe that is also my problem. Damn being a woman anyway, such an inconvenience.

Cramps. LOL. I really need to proofread my journals instead of babbling on. Edited "craps" to "cramps" though I will say that running can also bring out the former as well.

It's definitely not dehydration. I drink a gallon of water throughout the day every day. The cramps only occur during ovulation and TOM.

I used to suffer from monthly cramps, and I started using fresh baby spinach in my diet instead of lettuce. I believe it is the iron, I can't tell you, but I don't ever have any type of monthly problems any more. I hope this helps

Not so much. I run nearly every day and only have the issues during those two times out of the month. I think it is just my crazy womanly parts...
