crabby Kat's Journal, 27 May 2014

I've been having a rocky time, even wrote an awful journal entry that I ended up deleting. I'm feeling better now, more positive, so I'm back.

I still hurt, it bothers me that my right ACL is gone, but I'm remembering that I CONQUER challenges. I overcome, I rise above. I'll do those short-arc quad set and strengthen my leg to help support that knee. I'll let my physical therapist tape my knee with that cool kinesio tape, and think of it as a fashion statement. Hey, the aqua stuff helped me dance a full 90 minutes of Zumba yesterday, do Pilates on Sunday, etc. I think I'll have her put on the bright pink stuff when I see her today. :o)

I'm still baking, but making half recipes and planning ahead on who to give things away to, or how much to freeze. I'll enter the recipes in my cookbook so I can't fool myself. I love cooking healthy meals; I've made a great chopped garbanzo/cucumber/tomato salad and an amazing pot of soup with chicken Italian sausage, ground turkey breast, whole wheat macaroni, and tons of veggies. I'll enjoy the challenge of creating healthy low-sodium meals for my partner's almost 94 year old mom.

The sunshine helps, too. I'm enjoying going to Pilates, Zumba, hanging out with my friends in and after class, and making new ones. People like me because I laugh and smile and enjoy the workout. I was next to one of my grumpier friends in Zumba yesterday, but the woman on the other side of me introduced herself (we'd seen each other on facebook and in other classes, but hadn't officially met). We had a great time dancing and laughing!

I've joined a new challenge, lowered my RDI, and am going to take care of myself, and by extension, my partner. Life is good; rough stuff happens, but there is always beauty and peaceful things to appreciate to help me through.

Oh CK, thanks for your lovely comment on my journal, it was beautiful. I would love that too. Sunshine makes everything better doesn't it so as it's sunny today I am a little/lot better. And the company of a lovely woman such as yourself, yes we would have a lovely afternoon and I would definitely enjoy your baking. I have no self discipline so would have to rely on your to only offer me one. I;m sorry you are having pain but it's not that long since surgery. And you do so amazing, all the activities you manage. I am doing physio for my knees, to hold off doing surgery as long as possible. Hang in there, each day you will stronger. And again thanks for the lovely comments. It has made my day.
