JustWriteJames's Journal, 13 April 2014

A strange thing... For the past two weeks, by Thursday morning my weight has been down to 209; but, by Sunday each week I was back up to 211-212. Today, I am not going to record my food intake, although, I know from the past 11 weeks of monitoring that I am under 500 calories for the day. I just want a free day. I'll refocus on Monday, which happens to be starting day for each of my weeks.

That might be the problem, you being under 500 calories for the day. my nutritionist say not to go too low or you put your body into a starvation mode.

it's true; your body resets based on what you give it; it's best not to do that more than 2x / week! coach calorie has a great website and FB page with very informative and easy articles on this topic and all things diet and fitness! good luck!

Way too few calories. Hands down. Eating more than a 800-1000 calorie deficit puts you at risk for many health problems. PRetty much every organ will be damaged if you go too long without food, and When it comes to weight loss, you may do severe damage to your thyroid making it nearly impossible to keep off any weight that you lose once you start eating again. The best advice anyone can give you is to do your own research and find how many calories your body requires, BMR+activity=daily intake and subtract 500-800 calories from that number to get your deficit. Any more than that and you are doing nothing but harm to your body!

Keep with it - two days after I added exercise to my diet I ended up 7 pounds heavier (!). It has oh-so-slowly come off, happily I am just under the weight I was originally. My doctor says I lost 2 pounds; I count it as 9. ;p The best advice I have is to make sure to have a free day every week. To keep your body out of starvation mode you can vary the amount of calories you eat every couple of days. One day a week at 500 is not bad but every day and your body will start burning muscle not fat for sustenance.
