Today was a day in which triggers abounded. I attended a birthday party with my youngest child and the cake was beautiful, chocolate and vanilla with lovely purple frosting with sugar crystals on top. I wanted it so bad it was just terrible, but for some reason, I didn't fail. This was a huge milestone, because I have never in my entire life not eaten birthday cake when it is available. I am so triggered by the fluffy, pretty frosting and the decorations and the spongy cake that I always eat at least two pieces. Today, though, I didn't, and that is just HUGE for me. Yay, me! There were also grilled hotdogs, several kinds of chips, and Hawaiian Punch there and I love hotdogs and chips and Hawaiian Punch is an old childhood favorite that I almost never have, but never turn down when it is around. So, I avoided birthday cake, ice cream, Hawaiian Punch, chips, hotdogs, buns, and pinata candy at this party and I feel like a rock star. I just finished dinner and ate almost two pork chops and a bowl of pinto beans, lots of fat and fiber, so I am physically full, but still want a glass of sweet tea or a bowl of warm rice pudding to make me feel complete. This obsession over food is such a drag. I wish I could channel my husband for even one day of my life and be totally indifferent to food. That would be like a miracle, unfortunately, one I will probably never know.

Congrats!! You did awesome, & even your description almost tripped me up. lol Have you tried, Crystal Lite Punch or Kroger Yum bubbies (I'd have to clarify the Kroger name & it's my fav). The Kroger brand has caffeine & is a nice fruity flavor, maybe 5 calories tops. The Crystal Lite is much more of a punch, lots of flavor, no caffeine & around 5 calories. They are great drinks to get you through the day, & I'd even consider taking it with me to a child's party. They are packaged single serve (you can get the pitcher size on the Crystal Lite one).

Thank you, everyone. It is so nice to communicate with people who GET THIS. My husband loves me dearly, but is almost no help because he has no addictions/compulsions and spent 12 years as a vegan and is now gluten free and mostly vegetarian. He eats to live and can't understand why I live to eat. The birthday party trigger is something any food addict would totally get, but would be incomprehensible to anyone who is not. I like the idea of taking my own drink to the party. That way I get my "sweet" fix with no carbs. I am going out today after church and stocking up on Crystal light and the Kroger drinks so I can get through the day with that pitcher of sweet tea in the fridge. (I told the kids that this is the last pitcher. When it's gone, it will only reappear for special occasions and holidays. A moment of silence, please, for the sweet tea, which has been our household staple for almost 20 years--LOL). Again, THANK YOU, EVERYONE!
