As a former fat girl, I have to say that I find the idea of gaining weight to be quite terrifying. Add to that the fact that I'm getting married in 9 months time and it is extra terrifying!

I've just recently moved to Dubai from South Africa, and history will tell you that I have not responded well to being away from Johannesburg and its wonderful gym. I know everything there is to know about keeping weight off and all the tricks for buying the right food and getting in a killer workout.

My year in South Korea proved to be an absolute nightmare when it came to maintaining my weight. I had no idea what was good or bad for me because I couldn't read food labels; I fell into a gyming slump, and the loneliness of being in a city without my family and with very few friends, saw me indulging in more than one full pizza or one night of binge drinking. The weight piled on and before I knew it, I was my fat self again.

It took more than a year to lose that weight, and now after maintaining that for some time, I find myself in another unfamiliar city: Dubai. Things are different though. I can read food labels, I can workout in nice gyms (although they are few and far between and very expensive) and I have my amazing fiancé to keep me company and to keep me happy.

This morning I stepped onto the scale and noticed a very slight increase. I could put this down to several factors:

1. New scale
2. I've been sick and haven't been able to workout to my full capacity
3. Naughty hotel buffet breakfasts (although I haven't gone TOO overboard - it's just a little out of my routine).

Anyway, I hope to be able to rectify that soon.

I know that I have all the tools at my disposal and it's just a matter of playing the game. My geographical location has zero effect on my ability to control my own body!
