Ruhu's Journal, 18 March 2014

I may have been down, but don't count me out! I got hit with a case of vertigo Sunday night. I've had it before twice after traveling, one of those times also to a place of higher altitude, but I was home for a week this time? I don't know if any of you have ever had it, but its such an odd feeling. I especially felt it when I went to bed Sun night as the room really began to spin, followed my nausea & a headache. Luckily, I got to the doctor yesterday & am on the mend, just in the nic of time to travel again tomorrow. He (my ENT specialist) tested my ears & I'm safe to travel :), and will take it as easy as I can while I'm away, which works well with my plan to seek Calm while I'm being Curious and in Charge! Yes, I'm again packing my 5P's and 3C's! Normally, its a struggle to walk as slowly as my Mom, but this time she may take the lead!

I have 2 aunts & cousins in Cincy who I'll see while I'm there as well as my 2 close friends. I woke up to an email though from one of my friend's out there whose BIL passed away yesterday. So, I may not get to see her, although if the services are while I'm there, I'll go to give a hug & offer my sympathies. While I'm not feeling as physically well for the trip as I'd like, I know I'm mentally & emotionally ready and have the recent successes while traveling and during my last visit to see my Mom as reassurance that this trip will go well too. Hopefully by the time I land tomorrow afternoon, I'll be feeling physically stronger too.

I'm going to try to workout later this morning -- it always makes me feel better -- but will just do what I can. Then all I have to do today is pack, so will rest if/when needed. First, though, I'll pray, this time also in memory of my friend & their families' loss --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Throughout this one day and each one meal, bite, moment, thought & emotion today, I'll pray, breathe, journal, log & express my way. I'm so very grateful for each of loving you, my family & IRL friends, that I'm starting to feel better & am able to travel again tomorrow with the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox

Aww, kiddo - you take it easy on you, okay? Vertigo.. I get it a lot and I've not even been skyscraper level in years so hmmm. Glad the check up is cleared. Allow yourself a day 'break' when you arrive in case it happens again; take care of you first.

Sorry to hear about the vertigo. Did the workout help? I'll bet it did. Good luck packing. Remember to pack a copy of your packing list on the bottom your suitcase so you can use it to pack on your way home! Keep up the good work with your food while away and know you will be in our thoughts.

peppermint oil is often helpful for vertigo. smell it, put it on your feet. don't get it in your eyes - wash your hands after touching it. best wishes.

Hope your vertigo is better soon and you're feeling well for your trip. It's a little harder to enjoy yourself when you're not feeling your best.
