lisaappleton's Journal, 10 March 2014

my beautiful dog died peacefully a few days ago. Next to losing my father 18 years ago this is the worst feeling in the world. I haven't eaten a thing in 4 days. The fridge is full of vegetables on the turn that need throwing away and some milk that smells gross.
Scales show a 4lb weight loss but considering the last thing I ate was 2 days ago Im not surprised. It will right itself over the course of the week Im sure.
Onwards on upwards. Hey ho.

I was afraid of that since I hadn't seen you on FS for a few days. Sorry to hear about your dog. It's always hard to lose a loved one. Hugs...

Lisa... I am so sorry for your loss. I know you have probably been reflecting about how much she meant to you... After all they are not "pets" but a part of the family... a best friend who will never judge you, and always be there for you. But I hope you will find some comfort as you reflect on the good times you shared. Im sure Inka would want you to know how much YOU meant to her, and how lucky she was to be a part of your family. Unfortunately, most dogs will never get to know the love of a human. You gave her a wonderful, happy life. I do not know if you are religious... But I would like to think that if there is a heaven... then Inka is up there meeting your dad for the first time and keeping each other company. Anyhow, If you ever need someone to talk to or someone to listen to one of your Inka stories, just know I am here for you. ((((HUUUUGGGG)))) - Jess

Oh lisa, I am so sorry to hear. I wish there was something I could say or do to help. All I can do is give my sympathies. Hugs. In time it will get easier to deal with it ..... right now all you can do is grieve. My thoughts are with you.

thank you SO much. Ive been a real nark these past few days. I miss her SO SO much. She was my driving partner (head out the window, licking the air) my bed partner and the best thing about Inka was that she learned sign language. My daughter has Downs and can not speak but she does understand sign language. As I taught my daughter, Inka picked the same signs up too. Actually it was easier to teach Inka! If I signed 'chocolate' or 'ice cream' Inka went straight to the freezer. She knew the signs for 'car' 'walk' 'drive' 'pushchair'. Someone said I have a talent for teaching so I am wondering if I should look into teaching dogs for disabled? Id like to think that what I built with Inka could carry on. Today I took out my bike and went for the usual ride and it was strange not having Inka running by my side. Once again I thank you all for caring. (something up with FS because I am not getting any notifications) xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

So very sorry for your loss!! I think it's very neat that she knew sign language, my sister has downs and we sign a lot as well. Of course my dog isn't paying attention :-) All of my best to you

I am so sorry for your loss. I think losing pets is the absolute worst and your baby sounds like she was very special! Hang in there!

thanks so much. I absolutely can not live in a house without a dog. I Miss Inka so much I find myself crying all over the place, which isn't great when I work in a very male environment...empathy is thin on the ground. I am tempted to get a puppy. Already just saying that out loud has made my grief for Inka seem less but Im missing that 6am cuddle and 7am walk every morning. Ive always had dogs. The house seems empty and I don't have to look for my trainers every morning (Inka would take my shoes and hide them every day)
