Melissa7802's Journal, 07 March 2014

I have been noticing that with the exception of today, I have been eating not only low carb but very low calorie also, so I decided to eat note calories today. I have not really seen much movement on the scale this week and I am wondering if that is because my body thinks I am starving myself with these low calorie days. I have read that your metabolism can actually slow down by not eating enough. And I thought maybe i could trick it into thinking otherwise. I do not want to do that again though!

I am going back to phase 1 starting Sunday just to try and jumpstart this weight loss again... I think that is probably my best option so hopefully that will work. I have definitely been craving fat now instead of all the sugar... it is driving me crazy.. I really don't miss the sugar at all.. but I wish I could just stop with the other cravings!!

Eating no sugar, no white flour, and nothing processed is one of the best things that you can do for yourself. You do need eat fat. Going to low fat will prevent you from losing weight. Your body needs it for energy and especially for hormonal regulation. Your body can't do it without it. Try to make fat at least 20% of your total daily calories. Your body is asking for it for a reason and it wont stop asking for it until it gets enough of what it needs. Try to keep it healthy fats like DHA (Omega 3's). You can get it from Organic Free Range/Grass Raised/Grass finished meats. You wont find it in conventional factory farmed meats. You'll be surprised how much better you feel. Your body weight x 10 or 11 will = What your daily calories should be. Going lower than that will cause your metabolism to slow down after a few days of to low calories. Hope this information helps. I wish you good luck & success w all your goals. :-)

I have been trying to eat more, but I am just not hungry on this diet! I know I am supposed to have a 3 meals and 2 snacks, but I often find that between eating and all the water I drink that I find that I am not even hungry so I don't have those snacks. I am not trying to go low cal... it just happened! But, I am going to put a little more effort into eating enough calories so that my body doesn't think it is in starvation mode! Jess, I will let you know what I see works for the cravings.... I am at my lowest weight in over a year and I wanna keep going so I am trying to curb those cravings... it doesn't help when my neighbor works at the best bakery in the area and brings me over full sheet cake size crumb cake though!! I ended up brining 90% of it to work because I did not want it in my house, but I am not gonna lie, I did eat some!!

When I started eating more healthy fat, my weight decided to cooperate more! Nuts, nut butter, cooking in coconut oil are the ways I have added fat and it will up your calorie intake.

I also crave more when I am at home versus work or out doing an activity, unless I cave and hit that drive through like I did yesterday :( I also find if I eat too little I also have a harder time losing the weight. You may have to experiment and see what works and for how long.

Maybe you should ask your neighbor to give the baked goods to someone else as much as you may love their work, you love the work you've been doing on you too. Keeping working on what you can live with for your diet as that is how you will be able to keep your success.

Be careful w the nut consumption. Their not as nutrition as many think. 1st off they contain Phytic acid, simply explained; they bind to minerals in your body while being digested so in essence they steal minerals away from you body and also effect your nutrient absorbtion. 2nd they contain another toxin called aflatoxin, which is another gut irritant. To prevent this soak your nuts in purified water for a minimum of minutes to hours and then rise prior to eating. This will remove that toxin. 3rd Nut butters are best eaten the same day that they are made. They begin to go rancid once they are ground up, so if you wait to long you'll be eating lots of free radicals. Not good for your health. And lastly Peanuts and in fact a legume and not a nut. More info that I'm hoping will help you guys out. Theres so much misinformation out there when it comes to nutrition that its so easy to get lost or unintentionally do the wrong things.
