doublecheese's Journal, 16 January 2014

I accidentally fasted last Thursday (6PM-3PM - didn't have the chance to eat before 3PM),
but today I'm doing it on purpose. :P

I'll have a "breakfast" at 3 PM (feeling totally ok right now). Don't want to do it any longer than that because I've read about women having problems in the long term with IF (5:2)

Oh, and I'm thinking about making Hungarian Goulash tonight. Recipe
I just have to find something to replace the sweet Hungarian paprika, and I'll probably add sour cream to it too, cause in Hungary it had sour cream on it and it was DELICIOUS!

Hmm maybe I'll just have a salad - I think I'm in a plateau right now :/

That is definitely not a good feeling! :P Sometimes, I would seem to be in a plateau but then just wait a few more days doing the same (because I'm far from being in a hurry in regards to this) and my weight would suddenly start going down. I think that the body will, some times, have these like "micro" plateaus. It will hold on to its weight but only temporarily. I would give it a week before trying to cut the calories further. Looking at your graph I think it's still too early to believe you are not losing any more weight :) But that's me lol. It takes time to lose fat :). When we fast, we lose weight very fast but most of that weight is not fat weight ;)

Try giving more importance to weekly results as opposed to daily ones. Keep measuring yourself daily but just as a curiosity. Your weight will fluctuate itself down lol.

Do you mean it's water weight or muscle weight? (the fasting)

The only thing I know is that the maximum rate of fat loss is way less than the weight one usually loses in a day of fasting. I'm guessing that the rest of the weight loss will be a mixture of water, bowel contents, maybe sooome muscle loss (except if you have enough protein) But I'm really guessing. The source where I read this is long gone in my internet history lol. But this is from another website: "The maximum amount of body fat (not weight loss) an average person could lose in one week depends on the individual, but generally around 2 pounds!..." So, anything you lose beyond that, who knows what it is lol :P

2 pounds a week max, so around 0.13 kg per day? Well yeah last week I lost around 0.4 kg during my fast so I def lost a lot more than just fat haha.

I eat all my calories for the day within an 8 hour time period. It really seems to help.

Hey BuffyBear, I'm thinking about doing an 18-hour fast twice a week. It's actually really easy, I guess I could do a 16 hour fast every day. Do you restrict calories or just eat your maintenance calories?

It's possible Doublecheese, that it's even less for you since the average is likely heavier than you heheh ;) I wish I could tell you what else though but it must be a mix of stuff that the body starts converting because of the "economy mode", or simply stuff that it is not getting from food, or both. ;) That is interesting BuffyBear!

2 pounds a week that will probably not reflect equally day by day. You will probably lose more on some days and less on others :)
