I lost almost 4 pounds in a week and I'm really excited about it, but I'm not sure if it's just a fluctuation in fluid levels in my body. I feel like it probably is because I haven't noticed any difference in my waist size. I'll trust that I've actually lost some weight if it remains the same next week.

You are right about the fluid loss. The first week it is usually pretty good, but it gives you incentive to keep working at it.
