PinkRose88's Journal, 18 December 2013

It is nearly noon and I am just now having my breakfast. I have been up a few hours. I realized just now what/how I am thinking about my weight lose. I put off eating breakfast as long as I can. Because the taste of the food triggers me into eating things I shouldn't. I was diffently hungry, but did not want to eat because of the "fear"....for lack of a better word, of overeating. I had cereal, banana and milk. I am satisfied. At the time I was fixing my cereal, my dog wanted out and I noticed a car go by. Then it hit me......I have always heard and understood food to be fuel for our bodies. But by brain went to fuel to run the car. Ok......if the car has too much fuel it would overflow on to the ground. Or if fuel is put into the wrong places it can damage the car. Well.....my brain " just now" connected fuel/food to my body....too much overflows into fat, the fuel/fat overflows in to places to damage my body.....an ah ha moment for sure.......

Wow! I need to start looking at food as fuel too! I have heard we should have a good breakfast to start our day as the body has not has fuel for about 12+ hours. However, I know the feeling. Sometimes I don't want to eat breakfast because once I start eating I want to keep eating. I need to have my fuel but recognize when my tank is full. Actually I need to recognize before when my tank is full because it takes a little time for that to register in my brain. Therefore, I need to put down my fuel on paper beforehand or make a mental plan to refuel and then follow it.

Pink Rose, that is a great analogy. It really helps us to put our eating habits into perspective. Becky Baby 65 Too, I like your idea of writing what we plan to eat beforehand. This is what I do, because I record each dish with its calories & carbs for my husband's diabetic diet, so he knows how much insulin he needs to inject. Your insights helped me to realize better how doing this helps me to stay on track & "behave" in my eating. Good luck to you both, as we keep working, "losing" & WINNIN together!
