THE TALE OF THE TAPE:

This morning marks the six month anniversary of the start of my decision to get healthy and lose weight. Therefore, it seems appropriate that at this half-year mark that I take stock of the progress made to date:

Weight: Start 334.8 lb; Current 210.4; Lost to Date 124.4; To Go 30.4 lb
Waist: Start - 54"; Current 36"; Lost to Date - 18"; To Go - 4"
Shirt/Shorts: Start - 3X; Current Large; To Go - Zero.

I hadn't paid attention, but using the calculator just now, I realized that my weight loss has averaged 4.78 lbs per week over this 26 week period. That astounds me. I can't remember feeling this good in decades. Blood pressure is 125/75. In May, I could barely walk a mile. Now my daily walks include 32 lbs of weights and go from 8 to 10 miles.

All in all, this has been a very good start. The challenge will be to continue to lose (or at least not gain) weight during the long days of tax season, when I spend 12 hours a day at my desk. And then to continue to improve my physical condition and maintain a healthy weight after reaching my goal. Only time will tell. For now, at least, I'm extraordinarily pleased with the results and hoping to continue along this path.
