Man am I carb sensitive!! But then I DO have diabetes, duh!!
I planned and ate more carbs than usual for turkey day and was paid back with a 3 pound gain of water weight which, I'm happy to report is all gone as of this morning. YAY!!!
I learned a valuable lesson in making sure I check what I'm putting in my mouth no matter how "healthy" and "ok" the other diabetics say it is.
I baked a yam and didn't realize the carb count was so much higher than acorn squash which, I've had before. I just plain wasn't thinking. I only realized my mistake after re-checking my sugar level 2 hours after eating half of the potato. I decided F-it and had my small piece of sugar free pie (without the crust) anyway. I did manage to get my sugars back into control the next day BUT no more yams for me!
Lesson; just because a food is the same color doesn't mean I can get away with eating it!
5 ounces of yam is 39.52 carbs. 5 ounces of acorn squash is only 14.77
Sheeeeesh!

Interesting...I like both vegetables but am glad to know more about them:) I prefer the acorn squash but wow what a difference in carbs, is there a big difference with calories? I can look it up but being lazy so if you don't know don't worry, I can look it up later. Towanda!

Oh yeah, Lisa. 5 oz of acorn squash is 57 calories compared to the same amount of yam which is 167 calories. So either way, the squash WINS!!
