Ed Endicott's Journal, 25 November 2010

Passed out at the gym yesterday. Talked to the cardiologist and they are pretty sure it was the blood pressure medication. I've been taken off the medication completely, but I have to wear a Halter Monitor through Friday 1pm so they can analyze what my heart is doing over 48 hours. Was hoping to go skiing today, but I want to make sure the BP meds are completely out of my system and I don't have another episode. I'll work out at home and go skiing this weekend instead. The other sad part is I can't take a shower until after I'm off the monitor. Good thing it's just the dogs and I until Friday - could get pretty rank around here and I think they kinda' like that.

Every time I go to the gym I get really light headed...I've passed out a couple times before, and the doctors think it's due to my low sugars and low blood pressure--but they're not certain. Are you ok?? Did they find out if it was your meds that caused you to pass out?

Tubbs, I got a call from the cardiologist last night. He indicated that the follow up Holter monitoring results were all normal. He asked to schedule an office visit so he could continue to evaluate me. I suspect it was the BP medication that I'm no longer taking (I feel much better and have continued to be very active). He will probably take another 12 lead EKG and compare it to past EKG results to see if there are any changes. I keep a close watch on blood pressure and even without the medication, I'm still considered to be in the lower range of normal.
