I weighed myself this morning again for the second time out of curiosity. Typically I wait until night (my heaviest). The scale read 149 lbs. Though I'm sure it'll read 150 lbs again by nightfall. But at least I now know the 150 is most likely water, not fat.

I've started to do 10 minutes of Step Aerobics a day and every other day will add 5 minutes until I'm up to 60 minutes.

I also do some lifting with some weights every other day to try to minimize muscle loss.

And about 3 hours before I go to bed I eat a can of tuna (water packed). It's pure protein so it'll

A) raise my metabolism by 10-15%
B) Stave off catabolization of muscle
C) give my body enough protein to make more hair (I'm trying to grow my hair past my butt).

Another note: I've started reading Dr. Brian Wansink's Mindless Eating (http://www.mindlesseating.org/) and Dr. Barbara Rolls Volumetrics (http://thevolumetricseatingplan.com/). The research these two have done into what cues people to eat the way they do and the amount they do is fascinating. Their info is based on actual research and published in peer-reviewed academic journals. They make great complimentary reads to go with Shangra-La.

Speaking about protein, I have a friend who is seeing a nutritionist (not dating I mean, but to see what her nutritional deficiences are). She's told her to make one simple change: instead of reaching for carbs when she feels she needs a snack, reach for protein. She says Americans eat way more protein than they need to, but that's because they eat such huge portions. But a handful-size of protein 3x a day raises your seratonin in your brain (she says) and that is one key to not eat emotionally... you will feel fuller, more energetic, and less prone to stuff yourself with food, because your seratonin will be higher and you won't need to. So eating your tuna in the evening is likely a great idea! I reach for carbs, always, but will try nuts or tuna... I happen to like canned tuna, raw tuna and even cooked in the pan tuna!
