I began Atkins diet on June 23 of this year. To date I have lost 40 pounds! I went from size 22 to current size 14. I have been in induction stage up to this point and once I reach 170 pounds (only 4 pounds away) I will need to move into OWL stage. I am a bit nervous about this and my weight loss is slowing abit at this point.
174.0 lb Lost so far: 40.0 lb.    Still to go: 29.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.

Congratulations!!! What an amazing accomplishment! It is perfectly normal for your losses to slow as you have less to lose. OWL says to add 5 grams each week ( not 5 more each day as in 20 mon, 25 tues, 30 wed, etc but say if your at 25 on monday then 25 on tuesday etc) If at the end of that week and still losing you can add another 5 to your daily allowance for the next week and if at the end of the week you are still experiencing weight loss, no hunger, ketosis, etc... then you can try 5 more the next week . When you stop losing, or fall out of ketosis, or become hungry, drop back 5 grams. This is your CCL, or CRitical carb level and the magic number you can't go over if yo want to continue losing. It is also the number that will probably your maintenance level, although it might change as you lose more body fat. I hope this made sense. I don't know you but I am so proud of you!!! So many people don't make it as far as you have! Keep up the great work, I have been doing this for 10 years, I've lost 60 lobs and kept it off until this year when , unfortunately, I wasn't as diligent and allowed some carb creep and now have to get 10 back off, so I am vry impressed with your accomplishment. Take care, I hope I helped in some way. :)

Thank you easwann and looking2change. I appreciate the encouragement and the help. I have bought several Atkins books as well as lots of low carb cookbooks. I have decided this must be a life change for me. Since I have been on Atkins, I have been able to drop 3 blood pressure pills, cholesterol pill and soon the rest of my thyroid pill. I hit the weight mark yesterday where I can go see my doctor and discuss this possibility. My triglycerides were 262 a month before I started atkins and they are now 65! I was also 4 out of 5 symptoms for metabolic syndrome so was on my way to being diabetic type II. Carbs were apparently killing me. :) So here I am with a whole life long change ahead. I have made it farther than I ever could have imagined and I am over half way to my goal. Only 29 more pounds to go. Again thank you for the kindness and best of luck to you as well.

I agree with everyone else... You have come such a long way!!! yours is the type of success that we all dream about :) Did you make any change other than food? I am just curious.

Alexzwk, no changes other than food. I know I need to increase my activity level but I just haven't had time. I work full time and I do cake decorating on my home time. Plus very active with gardening so I am currently trying to get all the veggies preserved. Hopefully life will settle a bit for me and I can add some exercise in. I have a desk job.

Wow. I can't imagine Cake Decorating and being on Atkins. I crave sugar and there is no way I could do that. You deserve double the congratulations :)

Down 2 more pounds this week. Slowly creeping towards 170 which is wonderful for me but that means I am about a week away from moving into the second phase of Atkins. I hate to see the weight loss slow down but I do feel ready to move on and add some foods and learn how to begin life long eating habits.

You are such a motivator....your doing so awesome, happy for you. I just started so I am struggling to get the hang of the induction phase. I only am able to eat like less than 800 calories or I go over the carbs...I do a protein shake at night but think with your suggestion I will move it to breakfast, I am not much of a breakfast eater...Thanks for sharing your information!

Thank you Gizmosetc! I wish you luck on this endeavor, I hope it is as rewarding for you as it has been for me. I am happy to have helped you in such a small way. If I may offer two more suggestions for you, I hope they help as well. 1. First do not hold back on using the fat that your allowed, by no means over do it but don't be afraid of it. Once I added just a bit of the atkins ranch salad dressing and touch of butter ect...my weight loss seemed to improve. 2nd Make sure that you are getting at least 12 carbs in your vegetables per day. I average about 1000 to 1200 calories a day and still stay about 20-23 carbs. The fat helps to satisfy you, as well as adds a few calories. Good luck and please keep me posted on your journey, I am excited for you. :)
