Vickiauntmick's Journal, 01 September 2013

Hi everyone! Sorry its been so long since I've written. I try to catch up on everyone's diaries every day, but its been a struggle to make time for my own journal. I've been slowly falling into a routine with my newly wed husband and working on going Raw Vegan. Jeff (my sweetie) has committed to trying to stop smoking and we went to price a pair of bicycles on Friday. He is getting so pumped up about us riding together, and I am getting excited myself! The transition from long distance relationship to living together has been smoother than expected. I come home, cook a meal for him, and prepare my raw dinner while his is on the stove. So far he has been totally supportive, but sometimes he forgets that he cant push foods on me. There have been a couple nights when I sigh and say "wow, I really want a huge block of cheese right now" and he's all like "I'll go get you some baby" and then I scowl and remind him he has to prevent me from filling those urges- not facilitate them. I'm officially back down to my ending weight of my last 30 day raw vegan trial in May. As some of you may remember, I got horribly sick with pneumonia and ended up breaking my diet from the end of June through beginning of August after my wedding. So, I'm back on the raw train, however I still observe the "free Wednesday" which we now celebrate as "date night". I eat whatever I want, meat or not. We have started walking in the evenings. So far we've logged about 10 miles in a week, so not bad for two couch potatoes! When we went to the bike shop, we got to test ride a couple of bikes and road them around town for 20 minutes and it was AWESOME! I forgot how interesting people and places are... urban riding is the greatest. We went up Fraternity Row down from Marshall University and everyone was having cookouts and playing football and corn-hole in the yards, drinking beer from red solo cups, and having speaker wars from the porches. It was invigorating to pedal by and stare into the houses and see the college life. So, that's pretty much it. Marriage has been great. I was so afraid we would clash, but we seem to compliment each other. Our good and bad's are finding a common ground, and we are making each other better people for it. Hope everyone has had a great holiday weekend!

I gotta get my hubby to start biking! He never biked as a kid so he is hesitant but it's such great exercise! And fun, and so freeing to see yourself getting so far with just your own power!
