Ruhu's Journal, 12 August 2013

What a great day! The weather was beautiful, it started with a great bike ride, then into NYC where we walked around (and unknowingly into the Dominican Pride Parade), went to The Book of Mormon show which was hilarious, entertaining & so much fun (although rude & inappropriate at times... why the boys liked it too!), had a great dinner after and had hours of wonderful, quality time with the boys. It truly was a special way to end the weekend & start the process (for my youngest, at least) of going back to school.

We should find out today if my oldest can transfer to the nearby college he's pursued so far. If they don't accept him, of course, there are other options to explore & we'll cross that bridge if it comes.

This morning, I'm off to my interval training class, then up to work this afternoon. Another fraternity friend of my oldest met us for dinner last night & came back to CT with us. So, the 3 of them are going up to our lake cottage today & for an overnight. This friend leaves Tues morning & his other friend who's been with us all along flies out on Weds. So, we'll have just our family for Thurs & Fri, then Sat I leave to drive with the youngest back to school in Nashville. It'd be a busy week, but no excuses as I stay my course gluten, lactose & sugar aware.

But before I begin my day & the busy week ahead, I'll pray --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And throughout this one day and each one meal, moment, bite & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, journal & express my way, one at a time, remembering to be grateful for each of you my wonderful FS friends, my family & other friends, having my boys together for one more week and loving this life I lead. xoxox

You stay so busy I get winded just reading your journal. I don't know how you do it all. Amazing. Your day sounds fantastic. If I ever get to that area I'm looking you up :-)

The good news -- he was accepted! Now, thinking through the reality of it all -- having him live back at home (I know, I know, I'm always so sad to say goodbye, but he's lived away for 5 years, so it'll be a major adjustment for us all & would need some strict guidelines & an official contract?), moving his stuff from FL back here, finding someone to sublet his spot in the house where he's been living in FL & had signed a lease, finding a part-time job here, etc. I know these are all his responsibilities, but still are a bit scary, overwhelming & will be an adjustment for us all. So, I'm taking a deep breathe, leave it in God's hands & will take in one day or task at a time. I may be heading to Nashville this weekend with my younger son at just the right time! xoxox (P.S. Can't think of anything better than a personal visit from my Angel!)

Sounds like you have been busy and having fun. Hope you got good news for your oldest and you don't have to pursue other options. I have been wondering about the Book of Mormon. Did you feel it was worth seeing? I love NY...so happy you enjoyed it!! Hope your training was good!

Morning, Is, love having you around! Book of Mormon was great, Cathy, really funny but quite inappropriate at times. It's by the makers of the TV show, South Park, so I expected the worse. I think I was so unexpectedly surprised that I enjoyed it because I don't like that TV show. The best part for me was being there with my boys who are not broadway types but really enjoyed it too. If you haven't been to a lot of shows, there are certainly others I'd see over it, but if you're looking for a fun musical, great performers, witty but adult humor, it's definitely worth it.
