Wow, I really did NOT eat enough before my workout today.

For years I was one of those people who thought if eating less and moving more was good then I should aim to eat next to nothing and work out a lot. So whenever I used to exercise it was on a nearly empty stomach and it felt awful. Which, looking back is probably why I hated it so much.

It wasn't until this time around that I realized exercise is enjoyable if your body has enough fuel for said exercise. I knew I was a little light on the calories today but I went walking/slow jogging anyway and figured, what the hell, I'm not actually hungry, I'll be fine.

Wrong.

I swear I dragged myself the last mile (I did 3 miles on the trail by my apartment). Part of the dragging is that my shin/knee aren't happy with me if I jog too much but the rest of it was that I really didn't have enough in me to fuel that kind of workout after class this morning and errands. It wasn't until I got back and got a really loud rumble from my stomach that I realized the problem. Really, I should know I needed more before that workout, I even debated whether or not to eat but didn't want to make myself sick if I had too much (did that once and ended up with reflux while working out which wasn't pleasant.) Really though, afternoon workout means I need around 1000 calories to get through it. I know this by now.

In other news, I actually lapped someone today (before my energy crapped out). It was kind of awesome the expression as I passed them again. Yeah, you got lapped by the fat girl, ha.

Wore a hoodie to class this morning because it's gotten a lot colder here in the last few days (and this morning was really chilly.) I put it on for the first time since the winter and was in shock at how big it's gotten. Which made me think of the infamous hoodie picture and I had to do an update. As I said in the last post, I really really was afraid those jeans were literally going to fall off my body. I'm still cracking up over that picture and am debating over posting it to facebook. Should I?

Affirmations for today:
1) Change your thoughts, change your habits, change your mind, change your body, change your life. (Not sure if this is an affirmation but it keeps coming into my head.)

2) The best course is seldom the one of least resistance.

3) Every day I'm growing stronger

Be careful to keep your intake up before workouts. You can get hypoglycemic. I had this happen a few times.
