We have a new Australian shepherd puppy and she is a real cutie pie. She is black and white with one blue eye and one brown eye. She is very affectionate and is a real lap baby. She cried a little during the long car ride home until she threw up then she stopped crying and calmed down a lot more. She was so interested in everything that she couldn't relax enough to take a nap. We bought her a leash and a collar, some food, some food dishes and toys. I let her explore a bit at home and cuddled her quite a while and she fell asleep for a while on my lap. After about half an hour we put her in her crate for the night. She cried for about 10 minutes (it seemed like forever) then she calmed down and went to sleep. The one thing that has me worried is I can't tell if she has gone to the bathroom yet (it is very dark out where we walk her) and it has been 6 hrs. since we got her. I didn't see her squat so I don't know that she went to the bathroom. I have taken her out multiple times during the ride home, after the drive and since being home. I'll take her out one more time before 3 am. I think the problem is she is used to running loose and going to the bathroom and she doesn't want to go while on the leash. We put a clock in a towel in the crate for the puppy but she isn't laying near it.
I can't wait to play with and love the puppy in the morning.
My food however was awful because I didn't eat lunch before we picked the puppy up so I went about 10 hrs. between meals with only some cashews to eat. Then I didn't eat my veggies. My food all week has been terrible. I have to pull myself together and get back on track with the food plan.
I am behind on my buddies journals but I hope to catch up tomorrow when the puppy is napping.
We are thinking of having our family doctor refer my husband to Vanderbilt to try to diagnose him. I think they will have seen a wider variety of disorders than our local doctors who seem puzzled as to what to do with my husband now.

I'm so happy you two got a new puppy! Have fun with her. Good luck with your husband and finally getting a definitive diagnosis.

Yessss! I'm so pleased you've got a new puppy. You'll soon stop worrying about wee and poo breaks! Just think of all the years of love, play, trust, affection, cuddles you will have. Did I miss reading what you've named her?

It's great that you were able to find a nice puppy. There nothing quite like having a dog around. Have a good weekend Andrea!
