Still playing basketball...The rotator cuff injury is keeping me from the weight room. Mostly, i am keeping myself from the weight room since I have trepidation doing anything involving my shoulder (which is everything). I am realizing that healing might take a bit of work with it, aside from my broomstick stretches, so, I will push myself back into weights sometime soon.

My new challenge is my plantar fasciitis which is getting progressively worse with every step. My last, and perhaps my only, recourse is going to be to curtail all basketball. Could be serendipitous since I am trying to get back into the weight room. We shall see. I purchased a foot splint type contraption to wear at night so the ligament doesn't loosen up and it is supposed to encourage healing. I am putting a lot of eggs into that basket.

I have dealt with this issue in the past and I can recall that the only thing that worked was time off, but I am going to try gentle massage and the foot splint.

Shoulder is much the same, but no morning pain so maybe some incremental progress has been made. I do not have the courage to test it much, but I can feel it from time to time as I try to make a shot in basketball. I, also, ordered a type of shoulder strap to keep it in position at night too very much similar to the one I will use for the PF.

That being said, I have lost a pretty significant portion of weight since my last check in. I am thinking that this is a 50 50 split of muscle and fat considering the substantial time off from the weight room. I hope to put some muscle mass back on when I get my butt back into weights. The number is very encouraging, but I feel less strong and not as skinny as I should in contrast to the scale.

My physical ailments are quite interesting that they seem to be confined to the right side of my body. Which is coincidentally the side of my body that was stricken with bells palsy a few years ago. Or, maybe not so coincidentally, but who can tell. Shoulder, foot, knee...all suffering from something. Knee pain is minimal, but phantom aches and slight instability are just here to stay. Shoulder is a year now going strong with weakness. I guess it is torn and not healing...Plantar fasciitis is keeping my foot company.

Even with all that going on, I still feel pretty good and get out to play basketball often :) I am hopeful for some of the new things I am going to try out to assuage some of these issues. Shoulder strap, foot harness for sleeping, and loosing more weight to take pressure off the knees. Sounds like a plan.

All in all, I am pleased by my results albeit with a few caveats. I want to be more muscular and not be as plagued by physical ailment.

My diet hasn't been as clean as it could be. I have been following a very loose (very loose) outline of intermittent fasting with some rough calorie counting. I cheat from time to time and need to be more regimented. I reward myself if I exercise more than a few times a week and exercise more if I overdo it with the reward :)

Ok, back to the grind.
