mars2kids's Journal, 12 June 2013

So I was on a good track with my calories yesterday, then we had drama last night and I pulled out the ice cream and peanut butter and chocolate chips. I still didn't go too much over 1400, but I shouldn't have eaten that junk. I'm hoping today goes better.

Now I'm going to vent. At my son's game last night he was supposed to pitch, and he did, to 2 batters and then they rotated other pitchers. All season 1 kid has pitched the whole last inning, but not last night. So, I was kind of upset about that, but my son seemed okay, so I would have probably complained a little about it at home, then been done. My hubby on the other hand was extremely PO'd, so he complained to the coach after the game. I don't blame him and I know he's just being protective of our son and wanting what's fair, but he started complaining and arguing with the coach in front of all of the kids and parents. The coach told him that he'd done the pitching every game like that, and he has not, I've been to every game so I've seen that 1 kid pitches the last inning. Well, that got my hubby more fired up. So, the arguing went on. Well, my BIL was there and he said that their dad used to do the same thing. After that, my hubby was mad because I felt like he could have handled things differently, because him upsetting the coach to the point that I thought our son was going to get kicked off the team, didn't help or change anything. Now, he's mad at me. Like I said I can see his point, and the coach was not truthful with him about how he does things, but I think he should have waited until the kids were gone and maybe he'd had a chance to think about it and cool off. This will be a fun last 3 games. I just hope my son doesn't get the wrath of the coach now, or is embarrassed of his dad at the games.

Okay, vent done, that's why I wanted junk last night, that stressed me out. I'm hoping today goes better. I got my workout in, so I worked some of the stress out this morning. My daughter plays ball tonight, so hopefully that goes well and there's no drama.

I'm going to try to go find some summer shirts for work on my lunch break today. Only having 30 mins. will help me pick faster. I really need new work clothes, but I hate shopping, so I hope I can find some quick picks that will be nice. My problem is always just figuring out where to go. I tried Khols yesterday and found shoes, but no tops.

Happy Hump Day!!

I think that event would have had me diving in the ice cream head first. It's tough to not say anything to coaches when they're not being fair & even tougher for them to hear criticism because most are giving up many hours of their own time to volunteer in the positions that are all too often thankless. I agree that your husband could have handled that better & I hope that the coach isn't the vengeful type that would punish your son because of it. Good luck!

Thanks Adrienne. My hubby tried to coach this year too, but so many people voluteer that he didn't get to. I tried to tell him that it is the coach's team so he can do what he wants. The guy that coaches is just not a super nice person anyway, so we'll see how the game goes on Thursday.

THe season is almost over, and therefore the coach should be fair to your son. It could have been handle more tactfully on your DH's part though. Hopefully things will go better tonight with your daughter's game!

I know that your husband didn't handle the situation better, but face that is what you wanted to do too. Gov him a break, it sounds like he lo we his kids an It ticks him off when people are not fair. Maybe after that scene others will realize this coach is not fair and next year there will be a different one. Good luck on Thursday! Maybe plan for Ice cream.

You're right Kathy, I should plan for ice cream. I'm hoping that some of the other parents, who's kids haven't pitched yet either, realize the coach isn't being fair to all the kids. He obviously has his favorites. My hubby and I differ on our confrontation styles and I tried to tell him that I appreciate that he wants to stand up for his kid, but I would have handled it differently (not that he was right or wrong), he's not having it, he's just upset with me.
