I have finally decided to loose weight. I say that because I have wanted to for a long time I just neglected to do anything about it. I started by reading Joyce Meyers new book about Habits. I am learning that I will only do what I believe I can. Therefore I am working on my mind as well as my body. I hope to journal here the things I find both helpful and inspirational. No negativity is to dwell here! The mantra I have chosen, "I'm a believer!" Here are the things I believe:

-I was not meant to be fat.
-I can change my eating habits and learn to make healthy choices.
-Each day I choose health over instant gratification.
-I deserve to be healthy and feel great.
-I will take care of my mind, the body will follow
-I will not be an obstacle in my own path
-I will rejoice in all victories, regardless of their size

I will loose 100 lbs. Here is my plan. (I reserve the right to modify as I progress) but to start:

- NO MORE SUGAR; I choose to eliminate sugar from my diet in all capacities EXCEPT natural sugars as in fruit
- I will not exceed 1200 calories a day except one day of the month each month, I will give myself a "healthy reward."
- I pledge to incorporate exercise into my weekly routine. Min. 10 mins a day (to work up to 30 and then an hour)
- I will not eat mindlessly. I choose to taste, enjoy and appreciate what I am eating when I am eating it. That includes enjoying its preparation, its presentation, color, texture, etc.
- I will set reasonable and reachable goals. My first goal: loose 10%. That is 24.25lbs.

I understand that today's progress is determined by yesterday's choices. I also understand that the past is the past. Each day I choose how I am going to spend it. It has nothing to do with luck, genetics or fate. If I overeat today it is because I thought about it, romanced it and gave myself permission.

I am embracing Mary Oliver's advice today:

"Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it."
