Shrinking_Shamrock's Journal, 05 March 2020

I started getting heavy when I was 8 or 9 and I did try to take off the weight but I come from a family where both sides the women are all on the heavier side and that made it harder to lose. Until I had my first child (throughout the entire pregnancy) I weighed 175, and then came the depo provera which had a side effect of weight gain bringing me up to 248. I tried everything, dieting, going to gym, roller skating with my friend, creating my own work out routine but nothing seemed to help because for me at least, even after I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery I had no positive people around me to encourage me. I was still doing what I knew I had to, I went for the Intuitive Eating Classes and was prescribed Qsymia, and I cut the hurtful negative people (no matter who they were - my mother included) out of my life and have been in a more positive and loving situation for and with myself and I have a much more supportive partner who encourages me instead of putting me down. The main thing to remember is that no matter what, don't change for anyone but YOU! My boyfriend doesn't push me to change for him, I remind him that I have to do it for ME, that I have to prove to myself that I can do it. I am setting physical goals for myself and deciding that if I don't prove that I'll use something or whatever, that I don't deserve it, so I strive that much harder for it. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do it., or make you do it!(unless that's the class you signed up for - they DO exist)

At 22, I was almost 300 pounds at 5'3". I had a gastric bypass. Similar story... 6 months in, I got pregnant and received a ton of pressure to not continue losing weight. I stabilized around 220 for 20 years and am finally shedding the 100 pounds I still have to go! So glad to run into your story 😁 Good luck and hard work to both of us!
