Can You Be Fat but Fit? by Peg Rosen was waiting for me when I clocked in after my lunch run. What a nice confirmation of something that I've also wondered about.
I've always been bigger than the other kids, but just as active and just as good at sports. Even now, I am more active than some of my skinnier counterparts yet I'm not skinny. I can drop pounds by cutting out certain food groups and reducing calories to 1200 per day. But that's a diet, not a lifestyle change. The moment I start eating correct portion sizes the weight loss is over and I start gaining slowly.
So, I'm not going to accept any arguments to the contrary. I am going to keep doing what I'm doing. I'm seeing changes in my shape almost daily. No need to care what the scale says right now.
