To cleanse or not to cleanse... That was my question. After a wonderful Mothers Day (dinner out with my boys, thoughtful gifts, taking oldest to the airport Sunday morning:(, brunch with MIL, bike ride to play tennis with DH & younger son, and Sunday dinner grilled & cleaned up by DH & son), I got into some sugar again having felt the cravings build over the weekend. So, as I've done in the past, I felt the need to re-start & work on getting the sugar out of my system again. Cleansing has become my reset button as I navigate my way along my journey & sugar struggles.

I'm feeling good on the cleanse, have more energy than in past ones & slept really well last night. And, am accepting that I still have some figuring out to do regarding if & how often I'll eat added sugar. I feel so much better not eating sugar, but I really love the taste & miss it. But, eating it, even in moderation, seems to just start the cravings again. So, I'm just not really sure where to go with it from here -- will be praying about it for sure!

While I was sad to have my oldest go back to school & work for summer semester, he'll be back for July 4th & a family reunion for the week after. And, he'll be home for most of the month of Aug. Younger son starts work next week & have been enjoying having him home during the day for now. While I love every minute of having my boys around, it has been an adjustment to not having as much time for being here, meditating, logging, etc.

Hope all my FS friends are doing well & to catch up on journals soon! Xoxox

Ruhu, Easy on yourself. You will get the moderation thing. It takes some work. I believe if you try too hard when it comes to limiting yourself (especially in maintenance mode) you will fail and over do it. I give in to my cravings here ans there and try not to go overboard. Does not work every time but most of the time it does. Hand in there and keep doing what you are doing. It is working. ----------------- As for cleansing regularly. I'm not sure if you are using a product from the drug store (chemical) or something natural. ---------------- For me I would just eat plenty of fruit and drink plenty of water for a couple of days keeping the fruit as a regular ongoing part of my days ahead. That should have the same effect. -J

Thanks DC! I get the cleanse each day from a local raw food restaurant/store. It's all fresh; organic; no sugars, gluten or dairy; and mainly vegetables with some fruit for flavor. The first 2 days are the hardest & when I can get headaches, nausea and/or have low energy. This time, I felt pretty good these last 2 days, leading me to believe, there wasn't too much to cleanse out. For me, even though its natural sugar, it's better to cut back on fruit too with the cleanse. I am doing well, but want a concrete/absolute answer to the sugar/no sugar/how much sugar/how often question, but realize there may not be one for now, or only temporary ones as I navigate my journey. But, don't you worry, I'm not giving up the fight! Thanks again for all your support & for always being there!

Not a problem. Just want to make sure you keep your health and nutrition up front. The book I'm reading from Dr. Amen "The Amen Solution" recommended by Woo?? stakes the stand on "NO" sugar. That is a real tough one for me. I limit it but, I do have a sweet tooth. Can't rule it out completely - :-)

I'll have to read that next -- I'm reading the book she also mentioned called "Binge No More - Your Guide to Overcoming Disordered Eating". It seems to be (I'm not far enough into it yet to be sure) recommending everything in moderation & not to eliminate any individual food items. If the experts can't agree?!?... which makes me realize that there is no one solution that works for everyone. Hence, trying different approaches until finding the one that works for me for now. Thanks again!

I'm going to make a note of the book you mention and pick it up myself. Who is the author? >>>>><<<<< Your right when you there is no "one solution or way for everyone. You need to find what works for you. I do agree with everything in moderation. You should not cheat yourself. I will not!

The author is Joyce Nash, & now I'm especially eager to finish it so I can start the one you mentioned (I just downloaded it). Then, shall we compare notes?!?
