Since when can I jog?

Seriously, when the hell did that happen and HOW? It's one of the first beautiful days we've had all week and high 70s, sunny, not humid and I just couldn't spend all the time inside. (Today is one of my days for the 30 Day Challenge.) Figured, what the hell, I'll do a short walk first before the challenge kills me for the night. Started off walking and aside from some tightness in my legs which worked itself out I felt good and was making a good pace.

That's when it crossed my mind to wonder if I even could jog. I've been "running" in the 30 Day Challenge every day which is basically me jogging in place (probably slowly) so I was curious, I am able to but not very far before I have to stop. The rest of the walk was intervals of jogging, then walking while I caught my breath. I probably jogged about five times - not FAR mind you but I don't remember ever being able to do that.

Got back and didn't feel dead or have horrible side stiches (which WALKING used to do to me) so I chugged some water and started tonight's challenge routine. I had checked it out earlier and it was mostly upper body stuff so I figured walking would be okay - which for the most part it was but man my ankle does NOT like side lunges. Still I made it through BOTH, I'm just very sweaty and famished now.

Going to take a few seconds to recover and then have dinner. I'm really going to have to start working abs seriously soon though because while my legs (and even my arms as I've noticed today) are getting nice and tone I have this just blob above my waist. I have a sneaking suspicion that I have (and probably have always had) weak abs, since even when I was young I couldn't do situps. Buddies, need your recs for good ab workouts that are easy to start with. I know wii hula hoop is great for them but I don't think my thighs would like that tonight.

Oh, and did I mention that the scale FINALLY budged this morning? I finally lost the water weight I put on at the start of the challenge. (I mean, it has to be since I doubt people actually lose 1.5 lbs a day in fat.)

Affirmations for today:
1) Progress can not be rushed, sometimes you have to be patient and keep plugging away and wait

2) I am becoming more athletic every day.

For your abs you might try belly dancing. I find it's a great low impact ab workout

hmm, not a bad idea, I do like various kinds of dance. (I actually did 10 years of ballet growing up.)

Bellydancing is most EXCELLENT for the abs. And the shoulders. And the hips. And just for all around. You'll love it!

Oh, and congratulations on jogging! I have been running in place and am up to 15 minutes of doing it, so I guess I should take it outside on the road and just see if I can do five. Keep up the great job!! My buddy list is so inspiring!

Okay, I added a belly dance video to my queue on netflix. I don't think I can do anything else tonight, but tomorrow is my off day on the 30 Day Challenge so that's a good time to give this a try.
