There is such a thing as a free lunch.

At least there is when you work at my company. Apparently it's a nearly monthly event that they give me a voucher for the cafeteria (which I should point out doesn't have a dollar limit on it.) for lunch. Today, I was pleasantly surprised that today was one of those days. (Last time I was told about it a little in advance.)

I momentarily panicked. I had perfectly planned out my food for the day and I knew exactly what the content was/calories etc. As the work cafeteria isn't a chain I'd be pretty much flying blind and guessing and last month I kinda blew a whole ton of calories on tortellini. A little part of my brain just kept thinking "I'm probably not going to find anything that's around 400 calories and with dinner that'll screw me over for the day."

Then a thought came to me, what if I swapped dinner and lunch? I know this seems so simple an idea but for me it was like an epiphany. Dinner usually averages around 500 calories for me most nights. I swap that with lunch (and take lunch home) and I have pretty free reign to have what I want within reason. (Which is kinda the point of the low cal lunch anyway - to have what I want when I come home.)

No, I didn't get the pie or cake or any dessert but I did find this really yummy looking braised beef cooked in red wine sauce with mushrooms. Got that with some polenta and broccoli and it wasn't a bad option at all for lunch. Interestingly enough, I'm not even hungry yet and haven't had an afternoon snack yet. I know this sounds weird by my body needs certain calorie points by certain times in the day. I need to be over 800 by 5 pm for the day or I just feel like crap. I need about 300 by midmorning these days too. I've seen a huge difference by adding a piece of bread to breakfast as silly as it sounds.

I'm still taking the stairs twice a day at work to the fourth floor and I'm finding it doesn't really wind me nearly as much although my thighs aren't that happy with it.

The scale was FINALLY down a little this morning. Not quite back to that low weight I hit last week but really close and it's a huge relief because I kept going higher and higher for no apparent reason for a few days there and it was freaking me out. Wore a pair of size 18 pants to work today. I can't even begin to describe how great that is since these are pants that I couldn't button last month.

Okay, need to probably get a snack in me before I go back to the 30 Day Challenge.

Affirmations for today:
1) I have a great life that's just getting better every day

2) I'm still early in the process and there's going to be an amazing payoff some day in the not so distant future.

I'm kind of amazed how precise I got it too. I'm going to be pretty interested to see how I can handle walking across campus next week myself.
