thanks janella and bt...i made the speghetti squash for dinner last night and i liked it...oh my gosh...did i really say that...no i didn't...(see me smirk)...DO NOT TELL ANYONE...I WILL DENY IT...

dudes...i went to two different stores to find that speghetti squash...and the only one was over 5 pounds...holy criminee...lol ...that was the most expensive pot of speghetti i ever made...the poor check out girl was laughing at me...she had heard me asking about them...they only had this one left...so needless to say...guess what we are eating for lunch today...it was almost tasteless and sweet at the same time...i am thinking i could do it with pesto and chunky tomato's...or am i off base on that...

hey can i give myself 5 points for the same thing two days in a row???...no i can't...that would be cheating, shame on me for even thinking it...

once again though...it sat like a blop in my stomach...this is definately going to take some time...but hubby said to make it again...and what he says goes (yeah right :-))...this is what they make tums for...

i have come to the conclusion that if the veggie is textured right, almost tastless and somewhat on the sweet side, i MIGHT like it...thanks again guys...you made this an easy journey

lol Yayayaya!!! VICTORY!!! So glad to hear you "liked" it... shhhhh, I won't tell.... right! =D Glad to hear that hubby liked it too. FUNNY about the 5 lber!! lol OH my!! Walmart does carry them, too. ;) Yes, I would so try the pesto and other "sauces" on the squash! :) Your tummy will adjust, but it'll probably take a bit of time. Keep up the great work!! If you have it for lunch today, it DOES count!! BRAVO! =D

I haven't had spaghetti squash in years, but after hearing you talk about it, I may have to go buy one myself!!! Sounds good. Glad you liked it-- and the hubby, too. I don't think mine would even try it. LOL

I am going to try it too. I have a ton of tomatoes, I would like to make a homemade sauce and see how the fam likes it.

Is canning hard? Would I need special tools/ect..to do it? Not for the tomatoes though, I don't have that many. But, I want to try making and jarring up some pickles. But have never done it. I thought about researching it online to see if I thought I could do it.

it really is easy to do...you need very little...just two pots of the same size a bunch of water and the food...in 2001 i had not cooked in 15 years or better...met clint and the next summer i was canning...lol...it really is that easy...send me an email if you want..i do pickles, tomatoes, sauses, salsa, bbq sause and pickled peppers for steaks and that type of thing

Veggiesyuk you can freeze what you don't use for another time. I use those sealing bags to freeze mine then you just microwave it for a fast meal. Yes, you can use ANY pasta sauce topping you like. You just use the spaghetti squash the same way you would use any pasta noodle. As I told you, I have even used it to "layer" a sort of lasagna style type dish. Add whatever you like. Im so glad you found something that you like. Squash can be expensive and I almost went into shock yesterday when I bought a about a 5 lb butternut squash at $1.48 per pound!! Holly Cow Batman!!! but I love it so much. Hubby and I talked and discovered that the cost of the squash and eating healthy has paid for itself. We are healthier now, we are both minus a lot of expensive medications that we use to pay for and the cost of that squash didn't seem to matter anymore. We saved $120 a month on just one medication. I suppose that will pay for a months supply of squash.

i love to freeze things...makes for such easy dinners on the nights i donot get home until after 7...i thought my price was bad at .99 cents a pound...wow...1.48 that sucks...sorry...love your attitude toward redirecting your food money...you are doing so well...thanks for the help

OH... I have found both the delicious butternut and spaghetti squash at our DOLLAR store!! =D Even if it's "older produce", squash doesn't go 'bad' too easily! :) I've bought and ate several!!! LOVE them both, but yes, the price can be hard to choke down sometimes. Check your dollar stores that may carry fresh foods, too. :) I love freezing, too. Would LOVE to can, but YES, please pass along your easy to do secrets, to me, as well. I have jars even, but haven't looked into doing it myself. I should have a ton of tomatoes this year,... God willing! lol :)

you are so lucky...our dollar stores do not sell fresh food...only canned and cleaning stuffs...when i get my book out i will post page of canning recipes...
