Tuesday is "fasting day" for me. I'm committed to fasting 24 hours once a week as a spiritual discipline and a conscious effort to change how I think about food. Eating is a beautiful ritual and a great gift, however, I tend to cope with food, comfort with food, and celebrate with food. Taking food away helps me to find healthier ways to do the same things. The time I don't spend planning, preparing, and eating is a gift to accomplish something or simply relax. It is a time for prayer and reflection. A time to discover just what I'm hungry for. (Just don't mess with my coffee!)
