mrs.shagwell's Journal, 11 October 2007

OK, on top of walking, I guess I'm gonna have to start counting calories. I hate that! Is there an easy way to do that? Anyone know where I can get an easy-to-read calorie chart? I got some lean cuisines with about 270 calories. My DH says that's too much! ARGH! So, in order to get him off my back, and help him understand how calories work, I need to start counting calories. I'm aiming for about 1100 to 1200 calories per day. I know, I know... I should keep a food journal and see how many calories I'm currently consuming. yuck! I swear, if it were up to DH, all I'd be having is water cuz it's got 0 calories! (not even bread and water, cuz bread is carbs). ugh... I'm just frustrated today. Sorry... just needed to vent. :-(

On SBD you don't have to count calories; I do because it makes me feel more in control of the process. A good site which I have been using (free) with an excellent food database is MyPlate at TheDailyPlate.com. This is really easy to use once you get used to the font size and the layout. Maybe others will chip in with more good sites for this purpose (there are about ten which I have not had the time to check out completely). Good luck!

You could try journaling instead of counting calories, too. It seems a bit easier to just write down what I eat, then to figure out the calories and maybe miscalculate. Check out the kitchen for new recipe ideas or for something that you've been crazy in a healthier way. :)
