DMark's Journal, 12 July 2008

Well, it's been a while since I recorded an entry, so I thought I would put a few things down.

I'm glad to report that I am still living the Atkins Lifestyle, it is probably easier since my wife has joined me in eating the way I prepare food. Since I am the main cook of the family, everyone has to eat what I eat, or go somewhere else. They don't mind though, because I'm usually grilling or BBQing something outside, or grilling veggies and smothering them with Mozzerella Cheese, or making stir fry without rice.

I believe that once you get into the lifestyle, it becomes more of a habit and a daily routine, and you just don't think about it. I still have about 9 lbs to go to reach my goal, but I may not stop there. I don't want to go too far, but I will let my body decide that. I will post a new picture soon to show you how I'm doing compared to when I started.

I'm still have serious problems with my Spondolyotheses thou and my Chiropractor and my Spine Surgeon both say I have no other options left, it's either learn to live with the pain, or have the Fusion Surgery. If I do the surgery I'm going to wait until October, and then use the Winter months to recover. I expect to loose a significant amount of weight post surgery, but I will have to guard against weight gain from not being able to be active for several months. But I'll be alright I'm sure. I have a two new grandchildren due in January 2009, from two different children of course, and I have to be ready to do my PawPaw Part for them.

Congrats on your new lifestyle. You're right, it becomes easier as you accept that this is the way you're eating and will be for years to come. Harder to accept when you think it's just a "diet". Sorry to hear about your back trouble but, I'm sure the surgery will work wonders and you can enjoy those grandbabies, how exciting for you and something to look forward to while recuperating (sp?).
