Starlite, Star bright, where's MOONLITE tonite? :)

As promised, today's exercise is dedicated to my buddie, Moonlite!!

Her victory yesterday inspired me; her struggles resonated with me. We had one thing in common at least--our dread of exercises, and especially of the exercise dvds. Well, she's been nagging--nay gently reminding--me to unwrap the whole library of dvds I own, and start USING them!! So, TODAY I DID!! Fought my fear and forged ahead. Mind you, I have attempted to use these in the past, once in a while, but would soon abandon them as I'd feel all sorts of aches and pains using muscles never used before! Plus, there's always the fear of what the heck is going to unfold throught the duration of the workout--i.e., what new forms of tortures are these trainers going to introduce even in as short a segment as 10 mins!! And then, there's the next day groaning, creaking muscles to contend with!

Well, I must say, my procrastination with these have actually helped in this case. I felt much different doing them today than in the past. The last 5 months of working out, lifting weights, increasing fitness level, and somewhat my flexibility, plus the smaller size that I'm now comparatively helps stretch and reach places I wasn't able to do so before and made these totally do-able.

I started the "10 minutes Pilates" dvd and promised myself I'll do just 1 segment--started with Pilates for abs, then ended up doing two more! So, it was Pilates for flexibility, and the segment on Sculpting (with weights). I felt so good!!! I can totally tell this is going to work and help! I could feel my abs compress during the abs workout, and my spinal flexibility potentially getting better through the flexibility workout, and then my overall form getting shaped through the sculpting one! This is so exciting!! I'm going to try all the other dvds gradually--it is actually something to look forward to (and I thought only the netflix dvds could get me excited!:)!

Well, more in my collection are such fun things as "Cardio Hip Hop", "Hip Hops abs", "Slim in 6", "Tae Bo with Billy Blanks", "The complete ball workout", "Trainers Edge: Body Lift and Integrated strength trainign", "Pilates for inflexible people", "Pilates for wimps"...and get this! "Cardio Hula" & "Hula abs and buns"...and here's the cherry on the pie, "Tantric Toning"!! (Hmm..I can see the many uses of the last one ;)!

Ok, so that's my foray into the Dvd world---not to be scared of now..I can do this!! Thanks to the inspirational stories on this website,& to people's struggles and successes over these (Thanks especially to Moonlite & Evelyn!)! Stay tuned for my ADVENTURES WITH WORKOUT DVDs :)

Ok, other than all that excitement, here's other goings-on. Last night I felt terrible becasue I gave in to Pita-chips obsession/addiction and added 15 additional points to my otherwise perfect day! I was so down on myself, but this morning the scales were more benevolent than I expected!! (Yay for these far infrequent tender mercies!). I DID NOT GAIN as feared! I, instead, lost 0.2 pds! (Imagine, I'd have even lost more if I hadn't caved to Pita-Pressure :0 Anyhow, yesterday's serious workout must have helped keep the metabolic process going, and got my weight to not rise. I'm now in the 50s---and PLAN TO STAY HERE until I get to 40s---ain't no goin' back to the 60s!!! That gate is shut--and it better remain that way!

Today has been good workout-wise and food-wise. Here're the details:
Workouts:
Morning one:(did an relatively early one, at 9.30 am--Evelyn, it's gettin' there!). DId 30 mins of treadmill with 2 run intervals, with the longest one being 3 WHOLE MINS!! That's improvement from my 1-min intervals! Also did 25 mins on the stationary bike. Again, I was sweating bullets!!

Evenign workout: Total 30 mins of Pilates dvd as described above.

Meals & Points:
Brunch after working out: 1 glass protein mix with lite soy milk (3)
leftover lentil soup (2)
leftover veggie stir fry (0.5)

Snack: 24 almonds (4)
1 plum (1)
almond/cashew/peanut mix (2)
coffee with cream (1)

Dinner: Spinach salad with tomatoes, 1 orange, 1 tsp oil (1), and little bit of parmesan

Tempeh marinated in soy sauce/red chilli sauce/oyster sauce mix, and baked for 20 mins [threw this out! too salty, and the tempeh just woundn't cook well!]
Instead, 1 glass of lite soy milk (1)

Total pts: 15.5 pts [should balance out for yesterday's super-high points; keep that metabolism guessing!! :)]

Water: (with lemon slices): about 3 L or so.

Hee-hee... MoonLite's here, checking up! ;o) Lol, who'd have thought we'd every say we enjoyed exercise??!! Now it wasn't that bad was it... yay, 3 segments of "10 minutes Pilates" is fabulous -- you GO girl!!! I think that's actually the wonders of some of these dvd's... you do one, that 10 minutes flies... so before you know it you've done at least a couple! Well, you know already you've inspired me to get working on these abs... I have got a bit lazy with the exercise dvds -- much easier to elliptical while watching TV and burns more calories! But it doesn't tone stomach... oh hum, shame that! So the fact that's the area I still need to really target... I will make sure that I get back to doing my dvd's too. So I'll report back for you when I do them... ok. ;o)

Yahoo on the dvd progress! You gotta get yourself a Turbo Jam dvd :) I love them! I actually have FUN exercising. How crazy is that? Those darn pita chips! Banish them from your home! That is the one thing I miss from my single, living on my own days - when I wanted to lose weight, I banished all non-diet foods from my apartment. It was so much easier when there was only my own appetite to be concerned about! Clear those cupboards of all undesirables. Cull the herd! Keep those scales moving in the 140's direction. You can do it!

That's great that you tried your DVDs and loved them! I love my Turbo Jam ones. Like evelyn says; you have to get a Turbo Jam. They don't look as hard as the Hip Hop abs, but maybe that's just because I can't dance! Congrats on the 150s!!

Yeah, I've been meaning to get Turbo Jam--however, I have to call the company and see if they'll do a trade--I accidently bought TWO sets of Slim-in-6 (which is the same company as Turbo Jam), and I'm hoping that they'll let me exchange. But it's been a while since I bought! Otherwise, do you guys have any idea of how I can do a trade? Perhaps some online sites?
