Yesterday (Wednesday):
Day late and a dollar short! That's how yesterday seemed to feel!Somedays are just so draining..mentally, physically, and otherwise. It really is true about "clutter making my butt look fat", and my head floating in a sorta daze, haze, or whatever you wanna call the state of generally anxious feeling of too much to do, but not getting anywhere, and yet so much more's left to do!!

I kept wading through piles of papers all day long (with several breaks to keep me alive!), and finally, by 3 am this morning, I felt I had made a substantial dent in organizing all the papers (and piled up 3 huge trash bags of trashed and shredded papers to show for it!!). Didn't get any research-writing done, but it was important to wade through this accumulated clutter in my home-office (it was so uninviting lately with the piles of folders that no wonder I hadn't felt like getting any meaningful writing, reading, or paperwork done in there!).

Well, due to this sorting and cleaning, I didn't get any exercise done (not true--I did waste many hours along the day taking breaks, but kept putting off working out until evening, and of course, we know how that turns out usually!).

Food and points were decent, except for later at night, when I was gettign hungry, and just had to snack at 1 am or so, especially if I was going to pull an all-nighter. I don't think I went over points, but it was just the idea that I was eating that late that was troublesome.

Meals & pts:
Fiber one cereal and light soy milk (1.5)
coffee with cream (1) and chocolate biscotti (3 pts--wiped off and threw out all the chocolate frosting on it!)
Grapes (2)
almonds (3)
peanuts (1)
Edamame (2)
Dinner: Shirotaki noodles' pasta (0), oilve oil, part skim mozz, red peppers, portobellos, and basil (3 pts total--very yummy!)
Late night: 1 string cheese (2)
almonds (1-2)

Total:20.5 [drank plenty of water, and didn't do too shabbily on pts, after all!]

Today (Thursday):
Woke up quite tired, so decided to bail on gym, and get an extra hour of shuteye (total only 3 hours), before heading out to my meeting at work. That hour helped, as I felt considerably less exhausted.

The rest of the day's been very good. I got a decent amount of writing started at work. Came home and went to the gym and did an hour of cardio (30 mins of treadmill @ 208 K, and 30 mins of biking @ 142 K = 350 K total). Despite the lack of sleep, miraculously, I felt much more physically and mentally energetic today (perhaps it was also because of the 2 days' break from working out!). I felt lighter and relatively fitter in the gym today...didn't do weights as it was getting late and I still needed to make and eat dinner.

Dinner was great! I am so excited to discover new products, and two such things are yesterday's o pts, no-carb pasta!! And today I made the meatless stuffers (that were for lettuce wrap) into a spicy stir-fry (sauteed garlic, green bell peppers, portobellos, and cayenne pepper--it was awesome!!). I had a spinach and arugula salad (with tomoatoes and yellow bell peppers) and some olive oil and croutons, and couldn't even finish half of it as I was so full from my 2-pt meatless stuffer stir fry!!

I wasn't very good about drinking water at work, but made up for it by drinking over 2 liters in the evening....it's been a very hot day here, and didn't realize how bad it was until I stepped in my car for my return-trip home in the evening!

Other than dinner, I made a huge batch of my old spinach and lentil stew and have frozen that now..I returned a couple of phone calls while I was cooking, so that was good---as friends and family have been getting antsy coz I haven't been returning calls!!

I still had much more work to do, including laundry, and still feel like I have the energy to do so, but am gonna quit while I'm ahead!! I do need to go to bed soon and catch up on sleep, to be able to get an early start on the gym and work tomorrow morning. But isn't it curious how some days you just can't shake off that ennui or stir up some energy, and then the very next day, miraculously, almost, you feel like you can keep going and tackle mountain-loads!!!! Man, couldn't you just bottle this stuff!

Meals and points:
Breakfast: Fiber one cereal and soy milk (1.5)
coffee two large cups with cream (2) [oh! could it be the coffee that's kicking me in this overdrive?! Hmm...!]
Lunch: Spinach wrap sandwich with grilled veggies and boursin bought from the work-cafe(don't know how many pts this had, but am counting this as 10 pts @ 4 pts for tortilla, 2 pts for oil, 4 pts for cheese)
Pre-workout snack: roasted almonds (2)
post-workout: roasted almonds (2)

Dinner: spinach and arugula salad with croutons (1), and oil (0.5), with Meatless stuffers (2)
peanuts 4-5 (1 pt?)

Total: 22 pts

The clutter quote is actually the title and premise of a recent bestseller book (can't claim it as my theory!). Thanks--I'm excited about these recipes too...will try to post them somewhere...meanwhile, 140s? damn, woman! you're some task-master!!! :)

Wow! Busy girl. And all while you're running on fumes with so little sleep! Funny how you got the work out in on the day where you had only 3 hours sleep. Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason to these things. You're keeping wonderfully within your points so I am sure you will see some good results on the scale. Good for you for cleaning out your office. I know what you mean about how it drains your motivation to be surrounded by all the clutter. I always feeled refreshed and revived after a good de-cluttering. That's why I love spring cleaning and fall cleaning so much, I guess. You do come up with some tasty recipes. Am I correct in thinking your 0 point noodles were made from mushrooms? What do they taste like? Texture? And where did you find them? I like mushrooms so I can't see them tasting objectionable to me. And for 0 points, they would be worth a shot. Catch up on your sleep - burning the candle at both ends = OUCH!

Evelyn, the noodles are made from TOFU!! Quite surprising to me! I found them in my local health food store (we have a great one, but if you have Trader Joe's, Whole Food, or World Market, they should all sell it too...it's only 1.99 a bag, and tasted pretty good---a little on the chewy side, but if you mix it up with some sauce, it should be great (I've tried tomato sauce as well as pesto--and now want to try an alfredo kind..). Here's the link, hopefully that works.. http://www.locarbu.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=41&main_page=index&gclid=CJT4s8qD8pMCFQJtFQod_hn5Vw

Thanks 08! I'll have to look for those this weekend at Wholefoods to try them! Pasta is just sooo many points...so it would be good to have an alternative to make something we love :)

I hear you on the clutter - sometimes you don't save time by avoiding what seems to be an unnessessary task (organizing) - I'm sympathize with the mounds of writing and late nights... Academics are intense.. I'm so glad that I'll be free soon - until I begin the equally grueling schedule of a 2nd year high school teacher.
