Hello and welcome Queeshia! The only thing I noticed in your food journal was that you are a little high on carbs. Also, the Atkins bars cause some people to stall so many(myself included) don't use them in induction. Anyway, good luck!! You came to the right place to find friends, support, encouragement and advice!

Hi Queeshia! Welcome! No worries, you are doing great. I have only been on Atkins Way of Eating (WOE) since May, but from what I have learned so far, you are heading in the right direction. Keep tracking your foods like you did. If you want ideas for meals, the Atkins website lists approved foods for Induction and there are great recipes here and also on www.genaw.com/lowcarb website. The only recommendation I have for you is to try saving your Atkins bars for an occasional snack or treat, maybe once a week or a few bites at a time because they might stall your progress. You will find that this website and the people here are extremely helpful. Continue to ask questions if you are unsure. Best of luck to you!

It takes a bit of time to work this out. You got about 6 veggie carbs today. That's a good start. You should be getting 12-15 net carbs from veggies so you might want to try to get those in. Your net carbs look terrific..right about 20. Good job. You're off to a great start!!

I agree about the atkins bars. I ate one today and realized it was chocolate peanut butter and peanuts are not allowed on induction. So I guess I cheated. LOL Don't know yet if it will affect anything, though. Nut I got carb cravings after eating it.

Thank you redHolly, I need to get atleast 6 more veggie net carbs, but how do I do that without going over my net carb count? Im really focused and I want to continue on being that way, The bar was horrible! I wont be eating them, so can I put in some veggies for a snack instead of atkins bar?

Hi Queeshia! I started Induction last Thursday and I have to say looking back it's taken time to learn how to "tweak" what I'm eating, get the right amounts of fat, protien, n/carbs, and calories each day. It is a learning process! You just started yesterday, so don't be too hard on yourself or so afraid of making a mistake. :) Each of us have to figure out how our bodies will react to certain foods and this new WOE, but I know I will get there and I know you will too! Just keep at it, stay positive, and don't give up! I'm finding that logging my food each day and really paying attention to what I eat is a huge help in getting my numbers right. Your percentages (the little pie chart at the bottom of your daily food diary page) should read close to 60%(fat), 30%(protein), 10%(carbs) for Induction. Also, your RDI says you should be getting closer to 2000 calories. It's hard getting those calories while trying to get those other numbers right, isn't it? I know! :) I'm having the same struggle. But, I think I finally figured it out last night! For me, it made a huge difference to replace the 2 big mugs of coffee (with a total of 4 tbls half & half) that I was drinking each morning with 2 cups of hot tea (I've never like my tea sweet or with cream) and adding extra protein (deli turkey breast meat with a little mayo) as a snack later in the day. So, just making those adjustments in my diet will bring my percentages in line better, my net carbs down, and my calories up! It took me 4 days of logging my food and not giving up to figure that out! :) So, keep asking for help, keep logging your foods, take advantage of the free recipies, forums, and information on the Atkins website, and stay with it!!! Good luck!!
