So I am happy I am heading in the right direction again. My dad has been visiting for more than a week and having him here has helped me stay on track a little better and to keep active--because I feel like I have to set a good example for him. I found out last week that he weighs more than 400 pounds. I knew he was obese, I figured he was over 350 but I never expected my scale to error out and not register his weight. After that he told me that the last time he was weighed at the doctors he weighed in at 408 pounds. I am really scared for my dad's health. He has done damage to his pancreous because of his weight and is now having issues with diabeties. I just don't know what to do. He laughs it off whenever I mention something. He has changed some of eating habits. He now only eats wheat bread or red potatos but he is still eating to much of it. I was making him lunch and dinner all last week. I made him lunch the same way I make mine and my fiance's lunches. But I realized this weekend that he was making himself a second sandwhich. He also ate a whole bage of chips himself that I didn't even know was open. I bought him a bag of pretzel nuggets yesterday--he ate half the bag before I even realized it. He thinks because it's fat free--he can eat as much as he wants. I can't get him to understand that carbs are not good for his sugar.

I have contacted my sister and expressed my fears, but I am not sure what to do next. I am torn--I almost feel like I have to have an intervention--I feel like I should talk to my grandmother and my aunts but then I don't want him to feel like we a ganing up on him. Because I know he has to do this for himself and no one else...but I just don't know if he will ever have that "aha" moment when he realizes he is killing himself if we don't force him to.
