If I can attempt this and have success, you can to. I live in Florida and lately it's been unbearably hot. I hate it because for 1 thing it's hard to breath and secondly, you sweat your butt off if you try and walk. I got approval from my doctor before I made the change. he gave me the number of calories to start at. so far in almost 2 weeks I've lost 7 pounds. I'm 62 by the way and also have osteoarthritis. So activity is really hard some times but I make myself do it anyway. you can do this just do it one day at a time
