I'm relieved finally to have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. For the past ten years, I've been on a rollercoaster of emotion, energy, and weight. I feel that now I will be empowered to take control of my weight. Synthroid won't be a magic weight loss pill, but I think it will help my weight loss efforts to succeed. I still have to put in effort to eat right and exercise.
What finally pushed me over the edge was my serious attempt to lose weight last April. Despite eating 1200-1500 calories per day (I wrote EVERYTHING down!) and exercising 45-60 minutes per day (Turbo Jam, lifting weights, high impact aerobics), my weight went up instead of down. Right now, I'm hovering at 145 to 146 lbs. when I usually weigh around 135-140. Very, very frustrating!
Weight loss is a journey, though. I think now I'm ready to embark!
