Buzzed, stuffed, and..yet, not too worried..
First, I wanna thank my awesome FS buddies for shaking me out of my self-induced-weight-scale-obsessing-gym-avoiding-slowly-downward-spiraling-phase. Thanks to the motivation and ideas I received from you guys, I did make it into the gym today, and had a good workout, and also wondered why I was putting this off! It ain't so bad! It's actually not that painful, and feels GREAT once done--feel like I actually did something good!
On that high, I came upstairs and quickly made lunch (a spinach and orange salad, heated up some lentil soup, roasted veggies and make a pita pocket to go, and made a green beans/walnut sauteed dish--and had half of it). Lots of veggies, and felt very satisfying, filling, and I couldn't even finish it all...and it hardly cost any points! I took my daily vitamins, got ready, and went off to a winetasting...
Beautiful spring day, nice setting, and a gorgeous saturday afternoon--doing my favorite thing--drinking wine! In preparation, I had brought a bottle of water and my pita-pcoket (snuck it in my purse). But when we got there, saw there was a good spread of interesting appetizers, and the wine selections were good too...so, I started cautiously, but then got caught up in the good, fun, feeling, and next thing I know, 3 hours into the event, I had 7-8 tastings of wine, and several crackers, some cheese samplings, the artichoke dip, a creamy cheese dip, and some grapes....
We stayed back a little longer to allow my friend/ride to reoover from the drinks, and get a small bite to eat. She asked me to share an appetizer with her, so..that was more of the cheese dip and crackers...and I ordered myself a beer to really enjoy the time..I ate more of the dip and crackers than I really shoulda..
Upon coming home, I finished my pita pocket which I'd been lugging around in my purse all day long. So now I'm quite stuffed, and while earlier I had thrown caution to the winds and decided not to feel guilty for any of my actions...I can't say the same at this moment.
Ah well...I had a good time, made a couple new friends..flirted w/ and chatted to a couple of interesting guys...oh! and I WON a bottle of wine in a lucky drawing!! So, all in all, not too shabby a day...
But I can't forget my promise of a more balanced life, more in control, and not so easily prone to the delectibility of a spread!! And being better to handle the inevitability of a loss of control that's bound to happen in the company of wine. Cheese, crackers, and such are an unavoidable part of a winetasting, but I should choose more of the grapes and other fruits, and a little bit of the cheese, abd definitely skip carbs like crackers and dips...
Tomorrow, back to working out..and doing more of an intense workout...
Meals of the day: Pre-workout: walnuts (2) Lunch: Spinach salad with an orange (1.5),the juice of the orange as dressing, and orange and yellow peppers, 1/2 serving croutons (0.5) Green beans and walnuts (1) with some oil (0.5) Lentil soup (2) At the winetasting: several crackers, 2 pieces of brie, little bit of goat cheese, grapes, artichoke dip, and 1/2 cup or so of cheese dip...7-8 pours of wine (adding to probably 2 glasses) + 1 bottle beer Evening: 1 whole wheat pita (2) and roasted veggies with reduced fat feta (1)
Points: LOTS! Not gonna count..just gotta get back on track tomorrow, and possibly have a low-point and higher-workout day
