debzc's Journal, 25 March 2008

I had a great day today! I kept within my calorie limit and I exercised.

I think daily journaling is going to be a very helpful new habit. I used to "clump" my progress over a time frame and look at it as "staying on track". Daily journaling will allow me to recognize eating behaviors that are both positive and negative. That way, I can enhance the positive and work to eliminate the negative.

I also didn't like journaling because I thought my weight loss journey was boring. Now, I realize it should be important because it is helpful to me. I think that developing this new habit will force me to be more accountable. Because now, "the whole world is watching". lol

Since joining Fat Secret in late October, I have developed 3 new habits!
1. Keep a food journal;
2. Exercise at 5 times per week;
3. Drink lots of water. (We get ours from a nearby mountain spring and it is so delicious!)

And now, I'm working on developing THIS new habit.

Good luck on your journey everyone! Here's to new habits!

I, too, was a skeptic about journalling. I had heard for years of people using journalling online and off to help with their weight loss. And every list of "the secrets to successful weightloss" seemed to include journalling. So when I found this site, I decided to give it a shot and I have never regretted that decision! Putting words to page brings out thoughts and emotions that you sometimes wouldn't see in yourself otherwise. It is very therapeautic. And it is very interesting going back weeks and months and reading your old entries. You can really see how far you've come! So good for you for committing to the journal!
