I'm looking for some pointers about alcohol.

Let's start with the fact that I know alcohol is empty calories. I know to plan ahead. I know to exercise to give me additional points to spend. However, then I have to add the fact that I have an OBNOXIOUSLY high alcohol tolerance. It takes three Long Islands (at least) for me to catch a buzz. So, I don't drink often and when I do, it's normally not for the pharmacalogical response.

However, I have an old friend who's primary thing in life is the drinking club I helped him shape. I expect that sometime in the next couple of months, we'll be getting together. And as the drinking will be on his dime, I'd like to be able to get a bit smashed.

So, is there any way that I can plan ahead for a night of pretty extreme indulgence without going way off plan? How many points are in three Long Islands anyways? Can I just plan, in advance, to be careful during the day, do "whatever" for alcohol, and then get back on plan and realize that at least I've been following the plan the rest of the time or is this totally shooting myself in the foot? What alcohol packs the most punch for the points (tequila shots, Long Islands, something else -- I know mixers are a hinderance in this regard)? Any ideas are welcome. I've got lots of time to plan my strategy, but I figure starting early won't hurt.

Long Island Iced Tea is packed with extra calories from the mix so I would recommend drinking something like rum and diet coke, vodka and diet seven up, or gin and tonic (tonic has sugar but it is half that of regular soda). If you feel the need to get down to business sooner than later, tequila shots will definitely get you there faster than mixed drinks. But remember that alcohol consumption lowers your inhibition with food so you may find it a double edged sword you're dealing with. And from past experience, avoid beer at all costs! I don't know if it is universal, but it makes me bloat up like a horse that got into the oats!

Hmm... I personally, like drinks like long islands, but have discovered that I am as happy with the sugar free carbonated waters (wild cherry is a personal fav, orange cream, cran-raspberry, take your pick) with a shot or two of vodka... I personally love the coconut vodka with these. The waters are 0 cals, 0 sugar, so the only guilt is the vodka itself. That being said stick to a clear alcohol and you'll better off than with a caramel colored alcohol. :)
