JJisFit4AA's Journal, 22 May 2010

I have to admit, I'm uncomfortable eating such a high percentage of fat daily. To help ease my worries, I am eating the healthy types of fats, like fax oil, fish oil, and other omega 3 rich foods.

The part of the Atkins diet that is attractive is that I can hit my target daily protein intake, which is around 150 grams, which will ensure I maintain my lean muscle that I work so hard for as I burn fat.

Eating fat to loose fat is somewhat counter-intuitive to me, I grew up in the era of counting fat grams and trying to keep them under 50 per day max. :-p

It is a hard thing to wrap your mind around but it does work. May I ask, is that the way you look now (in your pic) at 188? or even at 170 your goal? If so how tall are you? I'm 5'11 and in the 170s and haven't looked that thin since I was in the 150s... what do you do to get your mid-section like that? Sorry to ask... but I could use help =oP

My avi picture is how I look when I'm around 170. I'm 5'11" tall. I workout a lot so my body fat was fairly low back then, but I had a good bit of muscle, that's why I weighed so much. I've always been dense!! What can I say :-)

okay wow, I'm also 5'11 and I've never really worked out with weights or anything but maybe that's what I need to do... I don't want to be bulky just toned, ya know? You look great in the pic! Good weight for you!!

Torri, Bulking up only happens for a very few women who weight train. I just got smaller and smaller and smaller and my body fat % went down because muscle is more metabolically active than fat. I have to weight train to get to my goal weight/size. Otherwise my metabolism would just be too sluggish. Especially at my age! You should really give it a try. I read Oxygen magazine. Its fabulous for teaching you how to workout with weights. You don't even have to join a gym, I do most of my workouts at home now.
