I've dieted off and on for most of my life. Once I hit 22, my metabolism took a nose dive. I've been able -- through diet and exercise -- to hit my goals, but I always slack off and regain the weight.
Last year, I wound up dealing with a herniated disc in my lower back. It took me months to walk without pain, and I still have difficulty bending over or lifting much weight at all. To keep the disc from rupturing further, I need to lose the weight and strengthen my core muscles.
This is when I change my life for the better. I have a local support structure, including my lovely wife, and I have the will and desire to make something of myself.
I know it will take time, but it's time worth taking.
