I went a little overboard last night. I was craving something sweet so I made the Peanut Butter Cookies - the Atkins way - with just 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup splenda, and 1 egg. Well I think a cup of splenda is way too much for me and I am probably cutting it in half the next time I make them. I had two but all I could taste was splenda. I don't know why I was so hungry or why I had a sweet tooth but I think I need to cut back on my artifical sweetners. Today I am having my coffee but I plan to only have one serving of crystal light water the rest of the day. I am only in moderate ketosis now.

Amanda, it appears that you are not getting enough calories. This is probably why you seem to be craving foods. Your daily calories should be 1500-1800 a day minimum. I also see you use a lot of artifical sweeteners but you don't list water. If you are - how much do you drink? Finally, I would stay clear of peanut butter while on induction. You will be able to add nuts later on while in OWL. Best of luck and I hope you can kick those cravings.

I do drink water but probably not enough. I have my coffee in the mornings.... probably about 16 oz. Then at 11:30 I have lunch and 20 oz of water with crystal light. Then around 2 I have about 8 oz of water or so. When I get home I have another 20 oz bottle of water and before bed maybe 8 oz or so..... What does that come to... about 7 glasses of water plus my coffee. I know the peanut butter isnt really allowed on induction I usually only eat a tablespoon about 3 or 4 days a week. I am still losing but I wonder if I would lose faster if I cut it out. I really want to cut out the sugar free candy & gum. I don't crave it but I have a stash in my desk at work and when I see it I have a piece. If it wasn't right there when I opened my drawer I probably wouldnt even want it.

Amanda, I started using heavy whipping cream, ultra pasteurized, in my coffee, without sweetner. It is so satisfying. I had a cup at church Sunday, and they only have coffee mate, so I usually drink it black, but last Sunday, I added a splenda packet, and it was so sweet, I couldn't drink it. And I am always only in trace to light and very seldom in moderate ketosis. I have only turned the stick purple once, and that is because I was dehydrated, but it sure excited me there for a minute. Listen to Keli, she is vert wise.

Have you tried sugar free jello? I mix up 3 of the small boxes at a time and add 1/2 cup of heavy cream. It reminds me of a fruity pudding or a mousse. That keeps my sweet tooth under control.

If you can, I would really try aiming for more water. You should be drinking 1/2 your body weight in oz of water. It really does make a huge difference.

I like the sugar free jello but I haven't tried the cream in it. I was buying the cups already made but my kids were wasting them and that can add up so I quit. I need to make it myself, that would be much cheaper. Is the heavy whipping cream low in carbs? My sugar free hazlenut says it has 2 grams for 1 tablespoon. When we went to the lake I had no crystal light and only one cup of coffee with my sugar free creamer. Everything else I ate was meat & veggies and only water. I was in HEAVY ketosis when I got home. If I could cut out most of my sweetners and try and up my calorie intake I know it would help. It is so hard though Keli - what can i eat? I get full and I sure don't want to eat more meat. Can you help me think of a few snacks I could add to boost my calories? I don't like pork rinds but I know I could get my calories up with those.
