My office is really fattening! Today a co-worker brought in homemade brownies with walnuts and craisins in them. I resisted all morning (who eats brownies for breakfast?) but there were still a couple there after lunch. I had a really light lunch, so I thought...oh why not. Bad idea. I went ahead and logged the brownie in my food diary as the highest-calorie brownie in the search engine, b/c that's what it feels like! Dense, heavy, nutritionally bankrupt, and not good for my blood sugar.

The thing is, I wouldn't go out and buy a brownie. Nor would I make them at home. The only reason I ate it was because it was there! This is going to be tough for me--people in my office love to bring in goodies, and then act hurt if you don't try them. I suppose I could have had a bite so as to compliment the cook without eating the whole huge thing, though. I guess the bottom line is that my office is a very unhealthy place and I need to realize that there's going to be some sort of carbalicious treat in the kitchen more often than not, but that doesn't mean I have to mindlessly consume it. Now I feel like my day's been thrown off; good thing I have Zumba later.

I am terrible about sweets/fats put in front of me. I am inclined to - on rare occasions - buy baked goods. But when they're in front of me? Like a tray of cookies, brownies, cake (which I barely even like) . . . ? I'm in trouble. (Sorry for the consistent posting. I just figure . . . support!)

I know exactly what you mean. I have an awful time at faculty meetings because the food is there on the table in front of me for 1.5 hours. Today I pushed it away and brought a Clif bar with me. Fairly high in calories (230) but at least I was able to calculate what I was eating (calculating 90 minutes worth of cheese and vegetables is hard). I got full enough so that the rest was much less tempting.
